On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 1723 hours, I responded to [10 BLOCK] William Dr, in reference to an assault that had occurred on a previous date. Upon arrival, I met with the victim, [VICTIM #1].
Another resident on scene, [WITNESS #1], explained that [VICTIM #1] had been hit over the back of the head with a large stick. The stick was pointed out to me and upon observation of it, it appeared that it was a homemade walking stick (approximately 1/2-1 inch in diameter and several feet in length). After observing the back of [VICTIM #1]’s head, I saw a large circular wound located at the crown. The wound appeared to be several days old due to the dried blood covering [VICTIM #1]’s head and scalp.
[VICTIM #1] was somewhat disoriented and hard to understand, so I gathered what information I could from [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] had been assaulted on Sunday (03/29/2026) around 1630-1700 hours by William “Mark” Robertson. [WITNESS #1] stated Mark had been asked to come over to help her and the other residents clean up the yard. Mark had been staying overnight for several days to do so. I was made aware that [VICTIM #1] and Mark were “sharing” the living room to sleep in. The two them were sleeping on opposite couches. [WITNESS #1] explained that she was not in the house when the assault took place, however, she heard the commotion of it from outside.
I later made contact with another resident, [WITNESS #2], who witnessed the direct aftermath of what occurred. [WITNESS #2] explained that Mark and [VICTIM #1] were both in the living room. [WITNESS #2] was just outside of the room when he heard what he thought was glass breaking. [WITNESS #2] entered in to the living room to see what happened which is when he saw Mark in possession of the walking stick. [WITNESS #2] stated Mark was attempting to use the walking stick as a weapon against [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #2] stated that Mark had already delivered one strike to the back of [VICTIM #1]’s head causing an injury which began bleeding. As Mark was attempting to deliver the second strike that [WITNESS #2] walked in on, [WITNESS #2] intervened and stopped Mark from doing so. Mark left after this occurred and has not been back since.
[WITNESS #2] stated he believed Mark assaulted [VICTIM #1] because he did not want to share the living room with [VICTIM #1] due to his snoring. [WITNESS #2] stated Mark had told him earlier in the day that he was going to kill [VICTIM #1].
When asked why law enforcement had not been called out of the day of the assault, [WITNESS #1] explained that she was going to, but [WITNESS #2] did not want law enforcement to be involved initially. [WITNESS #2] stated that he thought his injury would get better, however, it progressively began to get worse until it developed into a severe headache. [WITNESS #1] explained that [VICTIM #1] was not acting right today which is why they decided to call us out. [VICTIM #1] was disoriented to first responders on scene which was demonstrated when he was unable to tell us the correct day of the week or the current president’s name.
Metro EMS later arrived on scene to assess [VICTIM #1]’s injury and he was eventually transported by them to the hospital for treatment. Prior to leaving the scene, [VICTIM #1] advised to me that he wished to pursue charges against Mark. I also gained consent from [VICTIM #1] to take a look in his residence for any other physical evidence in the living room where the assault took place.
[WITNESS #1] assisted by pointing out the area on the living room where [VICTIM #1]’s blood had fell. [WITNESS #1] explained that she had cleaned most of the blood up prior to prevent her dogs from tracking though it. There was still some dried blood drops present on the floor. There was also a dried blood smear on one of the couches in the living room.
Based on the physical evidence and witness statements, I secured a warrant against Mark for aggravated assault.
