On July 28, 2026, at approximately 1748 hours I, Deputy Ayala responded to [80 BLOCK] Mays Rd NE in reference to a verbal domestic in progress. Upon arrival, I spoke with the victim [VICTIM #1] about this incident.

[VICTIM #1] advised he had went to his grandmothers residence, that’s walking distance from his residence, to prepare some food. [VICTIM #1] said once inside, he was getting the items he needed to prepare food when his uncle/offender (Willie Mays) entered the kitchen. [VICTIM #1] said Willie began arguing with him telling him to leave the residence because he did not live there. [VICTIM #1] said he advised Willie he did not have to leave the residence due to his grandmother ([WITNESS #1]) advising him it was okay for him to go over. [VICTIM #1] advised [WITNESS #1] has left for vacation and asked him to watch the residence while she was gone. [VICTIM #1] said this is when Willie walked out of the kitchen and began going downstairs to where his bedroom is located. [VICTIM #1] said Willie then came out of the room and began walking towards him holding a large sized machete with a golden handle. [VICTIM #1] said Willie then began “acting like he was going to hit me with it”. [VICTIM #1] said this is when he walked outside and distanced himself from the situation.

I then spoke to Willie about the incident. Willie advised that approximately 5-10 minutes prior to him calling 911, he had been approached by [VICTIM #1] inside his residence. Willie said [VICTIM #1] began arguing with him and getting angry that he had a female at the residence the night prior. Willie said he then called 911 and stayed on the phone so the dispatcher could hear the conversation. Willie said this is when he observed [VICTIM #1] call 911 also to advise law enforcement of the incident.

Willie was able to contact [WITNESS #1] on the phone so I could speak with her. [WITNESS #1] said she had received a phone call from Willie but had missed the call. [WITNESS #1] said she then called back and was informed of the incident. [WITNESS #1] said Willie and [VICTIM #1] had been into arguments before but has not gotten into an incident like this. [WITNESS #1] said she had told [VICTIM #1] he was welcome at her residence but Willie was taking care of the home. [WITNESS #1] said she did not know if Willie and [VICTIM #1] had gotten into a physical confrontation today and has no knowledge if they have ever been physical in the past.

I then spoke with [VICTIM #1]’s brother/witness [WITNESS #2] who was able to provide the same chain of events as [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #2] advised he was inside the residence with [VICTIM #1] and observed the incident.

[VICTIM #1]’s father ([WITNESS #3]) said he was contacted by his mother ([WITNESS #1]) while the incident was taking place. [WITNESS #3] said he was advised by [WITNESS #1] to “hurry up and go to the house” due to Willie having a machete out and approaching [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #3] said once at the residence he only observed [VICTIM #1] and Willie arguing.

[VICTIM #1] was able to advise that himself and Willie have never lived together. [VICTIM #1] and Willie did not fall in a family violence incident. I then asked [VICTIM #1] if he wanted to press charges for this incident. [VICTIM #1] advised yes he would.

I then walked back to Willie and placed him under arrest for Aggravated Assault and placed him in the right rear passenger seat of my marked patrol vehicle. I then obtained everyone’s information involved for this report. [WITNESS #2] advised he did not have a working phone number at this time.

I then transported Willie to the Bartow County Jail without incident where he was turned over to jail staff. A warrant was obtained for aggravated assault. Willie also had a warrant for violation of parole.
