[NARRATIVE #1 on July 05, 2026]
On 7/5/2026 I Deputy Joshua Caldwell was dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival I was met by [WITNESS #1], [VICTIM #1], and [WITNESS #2]. [VICTIM #1] stated that that Johnathan Burkett had come onto the property and stolen a black in color bicycle and was attempting to retrieve it. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was sitting in his vehicle in front of Burkett’s residence when Johnathan Burkett approached the vehicle and stabbed [VICTIM #1] in the right leg with an unknown object. [VICTIM #1] stated he then left Burkett’s residence and went back to [400 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd and waited for law enforcement to arrive.
After making contact with the residents at [1500 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd. and checking their information through dispatch it was discovered that Anthony Burkett had a standing warrant for probation violation through Berrien County Sheriffs Office so he was placed under arrest and put in the back of Deputy E. Robinson’s patrol vehicle and taken to the Berrien County Jail.
After leaving [1500 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd. I met with Deputy C. Purvis to get written statements from [WITNESS #1], [VICTIM #1], and [WITNESS #2] who also gave verbal statements of their accounts of what occurred.
[VICTIM #1] stated that when he was in front of the Burkett’s residence sitting in his vehicle, Johnathan Burkett approached the vehicle and tried to strike [VICTIM #1] with a closed fist. This made [VICTIM #1] lean back in the seat to avoid being struck and kick Johnathan to get away from him and while doing so [VICTIM #1] was stabbed in the right leg by an unknown object. I then observed a puncture wound with blood coming out and took pictures for evidence.
[WITNESS #1] stated that Johnathan came to the [400 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd. and was yelling about not being able to see his daughter. [WITNESS #1] then stated that her mother, [VICTIM #2], tried to close the door when Johnathan tried to force entry into the residence. Unable to get inside Johnathan then left on a black bicycle belonging to Mrs. [VICTIM #2].
[WITNESS #2] stated that he drove [VICTIM #1] to the Burkett’s residence where he witnessed Johnathan attack [VICTIM #1] and make an attempt to walk around the front of the vehicle while yelling. [WITNESS #2] stated Johnathan then got into a black truck and speed off after the altercation.
After receiving the verbal and written statements from those named I began to leave when I observed Johnathan Burkett walking towards my patrol vehicle on Aulie Gaskins Rd. I then stepped out with Johnathan Burkett and placed him in handcuffs in the back seat of my patrol vehicle and advised him that he was being detained at that time.
Johnathan was then asked what took place between himself and [VICTIM #1] and stated that [VICTIM #1] punched him in the face and stuck out his lip where he was allegedly struck. No visible marks were observed. Johnathan was asked what happened to [VICTIM #1]’s leg to which he responded “what” multiple times.
Johnathan was then advised that he was being placed under arrest for aggravated assault OCGA 16-5-21 and theft by taking OCGA 16-8-2. I then transported Johnathan Burkett to Berrien County jail where he was turned over to the staff working.
While transporting Johnathan Deputy C. Purvis was still on scene getting a written statement from [VICTIM #2] in reference to the stolen bike.

[NARRATIVE #2 on July 05, 2026]
On 07/05/2026, I was responding to a call about a possible stabbing.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, who stated that Johnathan Burkett had stabbed him in the leg and had gone back to his mother’s house located at [1500 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd. The victim then stated that he did not want EMS and that he was fine. I then looked at the stab mark, and it appeared to be a cut that was not deep on his right leg with blood coming from the wound.
After talking to the individuals, I then went to [1500 BLOCK] Aulie Gaskins Rd, where I made contact with an individual named Anthony Burkett, who stated that his brother was not present. After running Mr. Anthony through E911, he led us to where Mr. Johnathan stayed. After making no contact with Mr. Johnathan, E911 informed me that Mr. Anthony had an active warrant through Berrien County.
Mr. Anthony was then placed in handcuffs and transported to the Berrien County Jail, where he was turned over to jail staff.
