On 06/30/2026 around 1725 hours I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] melody Lane for a suicidal person with access to guns. the caller Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated her son Josy Gonzolez had been taking drugs today and was threatening to kill himself. [WITNESS #1] stated Gonzalez had access to firearms in his house. Gonzalez was described as a Hispanic male under a car shelter with grey underwear on.
Upon my arrival Gonzalez looked at me and stood up and began walking off. I called him but he refused to stop and talk to me. Gonzalez walked over to his mother’s home and began beating on the front door. I approached the front porch area and he became more agitated. Gonzalez was screaming at his mom through the door and yelling at me. I tried to speak with him, but he refused and continued to yell and cuss his mother.
I called for other units to respond to my location due to Gonzalez’s action. attempted several times to make contact with Deputy Youngblood but could not reach the repeater. After several minutes of holding Gonzalez at taser point I was able to reach our dispatch via a radio app on my phone and told them that I was at “somewhat of a standoff with the offender and to have units respond 10-18”. I then continued to try and speak with the offender, but he still refused and would just yell and cuss. At this point his mother opened her front door to get her dog and Gonzalez jumped up and ran into her house.
I proceeded in the home after him giving him verbal commands to stop and get on the ground. Gonzalez would comply and then get up again and comply and then try and get up again. [WITNESS #1] and Gonzalez began yelling at one another and I stepped in between them. [WITNESS #1]’s dog then began trying to bite Gonzalez so as I was having [WITNESS #1] get the dog off of him Gonzalez made a move for the door. I then pointed my taser at him and once again ordered him to stop and get on the floor.
Deputy Youngblood and Deputy Eldridge then arrived at the door and as we tried to remove the offender he began to resist again so I deployed my taser and the first round missed with one probe so I deployed a second round and both probes made contact. The offender then fell backwards landing on a glass end table breaking the table. Gonzalez did receive some minor cuts from landing on the table. Gonzalez was detained and after we had removed the probes from his arm and legs he was turned over to EMS and transported to TRMC in Tifton.
After the offender was turned over to EMS we did recover a glock 27 40 cal handgun from where the offender was sitting upon my arrival.
