BIBB COUNTY, Ga. – A woman is facing four years of probation and a $4,000 fine after her three Cane Corsos escaped her yard and viciously mauled an 84-year-old woman. The victim sustained severe injuries while walking the same route she had traveled for 40 years.
The victim’s son, stated, “Six days a week, she walked the same area for 40 years now, partly for her health and partly to maintain the neighborhood.”
Luckily, two men witnessed the attack and ran over to help. Once EMS was notified, they called him to explain what happened.
The victim’s son said, “She says, ‘Greg, I’m hurt bad.’ My heart just sank. So I raced there and saw her in the ambulance, and it was the most horrific scene I have ever seen.”
His mother underwent surgery after sustaining large lacerations on her body, bites on her legs, and two broken arms.
Neighbors reported observing the dogs sprinting through the area before the attack, and the owner admitted that they escaped her fence. The canines were euthanized due to the incident.
In addition to the fine and probation, the owner was also banned from owning a certain-weight dog for the duration of her probation.
