On July 23rd, 2026, at approximately 1252 hours, I responded in non-emergency mode to an accident (no injuries) located at the intersection of the I16E off-ramp and Coliseum Drive. While I was en route to the scene, the suspect vehicle fled the scene of the accident. I arrived on scene and activated my body-worn camera.
Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated she was struck in the rear at the red light. When she got out to speak to the other driver, the other driver told her there wasn’t much damage and drove off. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] was able to provide a tag number.
The tag in question was [REDACTED], which returned to a 2025 Kia K4, blue in color, to Mrs. [REDACTED]. I called Mrs. [REDACTED] and asked her about the incident. She stated that her daughter was operating the vehicle. She provided the name, birthdate, and phone number for her daughter.
I spoke to the daughter, Ms. Amanda Brown, briefly over the phone. She admitted to hitting the other vehicle and leaving the scene. She asked where I would like to meet her, and I advised her I would come to her. I left a body-worn camera recording. I arrived at her home at [800 BLOCK] Trinity Place, Macon, and contacted her in person. She stated that when her car turned off (auto-off feature), she took her foot off the brake. The car moved forward, and the two collided. Due to her having to use the restroom, she left the scene and went home, thinking that the other party would have followed her.
I advised her that it was technically a hit-and-run and placed her in custody. She was handcuffed in the front, double-locked, and checked for fit. She was secured in the passenger seat of my patrol car without issue.
Ms. Brown was charged with the following

- Hit and Run (Leaving the scene of an accident)
Ms. Brown was transported to the Bibb County LEC without issue and turned over to staff. A seat check was conducted, and nothing was found.
