On Saturday, 06/20/26, at approximately 14:16 hours, I, Deputy J. Hubbard #2359, was dispatched to the area of Montpelier Ave and Columbus Rd. The call was in reference to a road rage incident that quickly turned into a person being shot. As I arrived on the scene, I made contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1].
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was on his way home when he went around a red Tahoe. The passenger inside the Tahoe got mad and threw a bottle at him, then slammed on the brakes, getting behind him. He called law enforcement because the Tahoe began to follow him. The Tahoe then proceeded to go around him one more time near the area of Hartley Elementary and turn into the neighborhood of Anthony Rd and Swan Dr. Before the vehicle turned into the neighborhood, the suspect inside started shooting at him.
When speaking with Mr. [VICTIM #1], I witnessed that he had a single gunshot wound to the left upper arm. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that it felt as if his arm was broken. Mr. [VICTIM #1] did inform me that he had a firearm in his waistband. I then advised him I was going to remove the firearm from his waistband and secure it. I removed the firearm and cleared it. At that point, other Units arrived on the scene along with EMS.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] was transported to Atrium Health for further treatment. I then notified the on-duty person’s investigator. Investigator Sgt. T. Moss was informed of the current case and status.
