On August 9, 2026, I, Cpl. F. Gray, was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] Edwards Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance that occurred at [700 BLOCK] Pansy Avenue.
Upon arrival, I met with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that she learned the previous night that her boyfriend had been having sexual relations with her daughter, Ms. Carrisma Funches. [VICTIM #1] stated she did not confront Funches about the matter that night.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she later went to her daughter’s residence at [700 BLOCK] Pansy Avenue along with her other daughter, Ms. [WITNESS #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that upon arriving, she spoke to Funches from inside her vehicle regarding the situation and also spoke with Funches’ children’s father, who she identified as “[REDACTED]”
[VICTIM #1] stated that Funches agreed to discuss the situation. [VICTIM #1] then exited her vehicle with [WITNESS #1] and entered the residence to retrieve her grandchildren. [WITNESS #1] stated that she entered the residence and held Funches’ five-month-old child while the other children were gathered.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she subsequently exited the residence with the children. [VICTIM #1] stated that Funches became upset with her regarding the situation, approached her, placed both hands around her neck, and began choking her. [VICTIM #1] stated that Funches applied significant pressure to her neck, causing her difficulty breathing and causing her to feel blood rushing to her head. [VICTIM #1] stated that Funches continued choking her until [WITNESS #1] intervened.
[WITNESS #1] stated that she came outside and observed Funches’ hands around [VICTIM #1]’ neck. [WITNESS #1] stated that she intervened by pulling Funches away from [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated that Funches told her to get her hands off of her and told [VICTIM #1] to leave her yard.
[VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] stated that they gathered the children, except for the five-month-old child, and left the residence before returning to [700 BLOCK] Edwards Avenue.
I observed redness around [VICTIM #1]’ neck and chest area, along with scratches. [VICTIM #1] also showed me photographs of her injuries, which were recorded on my Axon-worn body camera. [VICTIM #1] declined EMS assistance.
I provided [VICTIM #1] with a case card and case number. I later attempted to make contact with Funches at [700 BLOCK] Pansy Avenue; however, I was unable to make contact.
Warrants will be sought.
