On January 23, 2025, at 0650 hours, I was dispatched to [3500 BLOCK] Lawrence Dr. S in reference to Shots Fired. Upon arrival, I made contact with complainant/victim [VICTIM #1]. He stated his family awakened to gunfire at approximately 0620 hours. He stated he heard approximately 15 shots. [VICTIM #1] stated the bullets came through both the boys’ (Identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [VICTIM #2]) bedrooms on initial look.
I observed approximately 5 bullet holes in the top frame of the window and walls of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] room and approximately 3 bullet holes to the walls of [VICTIM #2]’s room. [VICTIM #1] family stated they have not had any altercations or if their house was targeted. Several neighbors heard the gunfire as well; however, there is no video surveillance available at this time. I walked the street and immediate area along with neighbors and did not find any shell casings.
A short time afterwards, at 0922 hours, I was dispatched to the residence in reference to found shell casings. Upon arrival, shell casings were in front of [3500 BLOCK] Lawrence Dr. S. I collected 12 9mm shell casings. There were also several more bullet holes found on the exterior shutters and siding of the residence. [VICTIM #2] also stated that it maybe part of some sort of gang initiation. The casings will be placed in the crime lab for fingerprints and evidence.
Sergeant Jones, Lieutenant Garrison. and Gang Unit Investigator Sergeant Gray notified of the incident as well.
