On July 20, 2026, at 1445 hours, I, Deputy N. Holmes, was dispatched to [REDACTED], in reference to shots fired.
Upon arrival, I met [WITNESS #1], who stated that she and her children were at the pool when she heard several gunshots. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she advised her children to get out of the pool and go home. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that when she arrived home to her residence, two of her children, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY], advised her that they saw the incident occur and saw who was shooting near their residence. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that there were about five shell casings on the ground. I then picked up five 9mm shell casings.
When speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], she stated that she heard about six gunshots, and when she was headed back to her residence, she saw Deangelo Holt and Nagee Durant shooting at each other. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that Mr. Holt ran back inside Apartment [REDACTED], and Mr. Durant left walking. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated that one of the neighbor’s vehicles had been struck and her rear driver’s window had shattered.
When speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], he stated that he was also coming from the pool when he heard several gunshots. [REDACTED] stated that as he was running home and witnessed Mr. Holt shooting at Durant. When he witnessed the shooting, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he ran to get away.
I called Corporal Walker and advised him what was happening and that I needed another unit to try and make contact with apartment [REDACTED]. Corporal Walker arrived on scene, and we both approached apartment [REDACTED], a black male answered the door, and he was temporarily detained due to the nature of the incident. The black male was not the suspect, and he advised that his mom, [WITNESS #2], knew what was happening.
When Ms. [WITNESS #2] arrived, Mr. Holt was inside her passenger seat. Mr. Holt was detained by Corporal Walker and placed in handcuffs. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] identified Mr. Holt as the person who was shooting. Mr. Holt was asked by Corporal Walker where the firearm was, and he stated: “I don’t have one”. I asked Ms. [WITNESS #2] where Mr. Holt’s firearm was, and she stated that it was inside her glove compartment.
I retrieved a 9mm Taurus, black in color, with the serial number ABC40092. The serial number was run through NCIC and came back as not stolen. While Mr. Holt was in the back of my marked patrol vehicle, I approached him and read him his Miranda rights and asked him if he understood these rights and if he wanted to speak with me and Corporal Walker about the incident.
I then spoke with [VICTIM #1], and she stated that some children knocked on her door to let her know that her 2016 Hyundai Tucson, gray in color, with Georgia tag number [REDACTED], had been struck by one of the bullets when Mr. Holt was shooting. [VICTIM #1]’s rear window was shattered, and her vehicle’s back seat was damaged.
Mr. Holt stated that he understood his rights and wanted to speak. Mr. Holt stated that he was there to take Ms. [WITNESS #2] somewhere when Mr. Durant approached his vehicle with a verbal altercation and then proceeded to reach on the driver’s side of the vehicle and struck him in the head with a closed fist. Mr. Holt stated that he was struck twice by Mr. Durant.
Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that Mr. Durant walked up to the vehicle after having a verbal altercation with Mr. Holt and reached into the vehicle and struck Mr. Holt twice in the face with a closed fist. Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that Mr. Holt told Mr. Durant to go on and get away from the vehicle. Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that she leaned down in the vehicle for a few seconds and then she saw Mr. Holt step out of the vehicle and fire several shots at Mr. Durant.
Mr. Holt was transported to the BIbb Lec and charged with aggravated assault, cruelty to children, reckless conduct, and property damage.
