On February 23, 2025, I, Dep. C. Lewis responded to [1400 BLOCK] Bloomfield Road about a male subject with a firearm pointing it at people. The male was described as a black male in a white shirt and jeans.
Upon arrival, a group of people pointed at the suspect, who was across the street at this time. I then made my way over to where the suspect, later identified as Kerry Yarbrough, ran around the corner of a fence. I then went around the store in my car to cut off Yarbrough. I was able to cut off Yarbrough and then gave him commands to get on the ground which he complied. I then detained him and placed him in my vehicle. A search of the area where Yarbrough ran did locate a Century Arms 9MM pistol.
The firearm was found by Dep. White.
I then spoke with the victim Mr. [VICTIM #1]. He stated that he was at the gas station and heard a male and female arguing and causing a scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that he helps the owner keep the peace at the store. [VICTIM #1] then approaches the store and tries to calm the situation between the couple in which [VICTIM #1] stated that Yarbrough then challenged him to a fight.
Both parties then went outside and when [VICTIM #1] turned around to look at Yarbrough he began to pull a black pistol out of his waist and point it at [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] then ran and called 911.
This event was recorded on the store surveillance. I did not have a way to record the video but it was observed by me and on body camera.
I then took Yarbrough to the Bibb County LEC.
