On 04/17/2026 at approximately 0734 hours, I, Sgt. George Witherspoon, responded to [3000 BLOCK] Ridge Ave. Apt. [REDACTED] (Riviera Court Apartments) in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, [VICTIM #1], who displayed significant facial injuries, including swelling to the upper lip, active bleeding from the mouth, and the apparent loss of a tooth. [VICTIM #1] was in possession of a tooth she stated had been knocked out during the incident.
[VICTIM #1] stated that at approximately 0500 hours, she and the suspect, Michael James Henderson, who is the father of her two children, were delivering food orders using her vehicle. [VICTIM #1] advised that she became tired and informed Henderson she needed to return home so she could prepare her children to be taken to their grandmother. [VICTIM #1] stated Henderson became upset because he wanted to continue using her vehicle to make money.
According to [VICTIM #1], a verbal argument followed, during which Henderson intentionally swung his right arm and struck her in the face with either his hand or a closed fist. [VICTIM #1] stated she immediately began bleeding from the mouth and realized one of her teeth had been knocked out. [VICTIM #1] further advised she was momentarily disoriented and believes she may have briefly lost consciousness following the strike.
[VICTIM #1] stated that after the assault, Henderson appeared remorseful, began crying, and repeatedly apologized for his actions. EMS responded to the scene and a relative subsequently transported her to the hospital. Medical records obtained from Piedmont Medical Center confirmed [VICTIM #1] sustained a closed fracture of the left side of the maxilla (upper jaw) consistent with blunt force trauma. The injury resulted in the loss of a tooth and displacement of the gum line, causing serious bodily injury and visible disfigurement.
[VICTIM #1]’s injuries were so severe she was referred to an oral surgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital for emergency surgical care. The oral surgeon fitted [VICTIM #1]’s upper gums with a stent to stabilize the fractured area and damaged teeth. Due to the significant facial and dental trauma, [VICTIM #1] was informed additional dental reconstruction and restorative treatment could not begin for approximately six to eight weeks while the fracture and surrounding tissue healed.
Based on the victim’s statement, observed injuries, recovered tooth, and medical findings, A warrant was subsequently sought for Henderson’s arrest. Henderson was later arrested on 04/20/26 at his home without incident before being transported to the Bibb County LEC for detention and processing.
