On May 7, 2026, at approximately 0057 hours, I, Corporal Grooms was dispatched to [1000 BLOCK] Burke Street in reference to a person shot. An unidentified caller reported that there was there a male lying face down on steps with a lot of blood. Macon Bibb County Dispatched pinged the location of phone call to [1000 BLOCK] Burke Street.

Upon my arrival, I located an unresponsive black male victim lying face down on the steps of [1000 BLOCK] Burke Street. It appeared the male subject came from inside of the residence. Fire rescue responded to the scene and began providing medical aid to the victim. I requested Emergency Medical Services to respond to the scene. The victim had a large wound near the upper left arm. It is unclear what caused the victim’s injury.

Deputy Daniels, Deputy Morera arrived on scene. We went inside of the residence to check for additional victims. As we entered inside of the residence, I noticed blood in the doorway that led to a bedroom where there was more blood on the floor. There were multiple dogs, three puppies and one medium size dog, inside of the residence. There were no victims or suspects located inside of the residence. There were multiple dogs inside of the home.

Deputy Morera and I secured the perimeter of the crime scene using crime scene tape. Corporal Holmes used a fingerprint scanner to identify the victim as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] was pronounced deceased at the scene by Coroner [REDACTED].

Lieutenant Porter was notified and responded to the scene. Captain Pendleton responded to the scene. Violent Crimes Investigator Sgt. Munguia was notified and responded to the scene. Sgt. Munguia requested the crime lab to respond to the scene and Crime Lab Ms. Lee responded to the scene. Person’s Investigator Lieutenant Bridger responded to the scene.

Animal Control responded to the residence to take possession of the dogs that were inside of the home.

This case was turned over to Investigator Sgt. Munguia.
