On September 23, 2026, at approximately 20:53 hours I, Deputy M. Jones, was dispatched to 3198 Mercer University Dr. in Macon-Bibb County, Ga. The call was in reference to a ShotSpotter detection.
Upon my arrival I observed broken glass in the right, left turning lane on Anthony Rd./ Mercer Univ. Dr. At this intersection and parking lot I collected fourteen 9MM cartridge casings, eight 10MM cartridge casings, eleven .40 caliber cartridge casings, one live .40 caliber round, and a white Apple iPhone.
The store owner of this location allowed me to view surveillance camera footage. The footage displayed a sliver sedan stopped in the far right, left turning lane at a red light at Anthony Rd. at Mercer Univ. Dr. Moments later a black 2016 Honda Accord (tag: [REDACTED]) approached the intersection in the left, left turning lane. It appeared that the driver of the silver sedan opened fire first on the Honda Accord. Gunshots were returned from the Honda Accord while multiple occupants exited the vehicle. These occupants ran east of this intersection. An unknown occupant exited the rear passenger seat of the silver sedan. This subject ran west of the intersection behind the business. The silver sedan sped away heading north on Burton Ave.
I also viewed the incident on street cameras provided by intel.
There was an additional black sedan that stopped behind the silver sedan. Two occupants of this vehicle exited and ran into the parking lot of the business. They took cover behind a vehicle at a gas pump with firearms in hand. One subject appeared to reload his weapon. Approximately 2 shell casings and 1 live round were found near the area that he was seen on camera.
I made contact with all four occupants of the Honda Accord at Atrium Navicent.
[VICTIM #1] suffered a gunshot wound in his right forearm. He was seated in the front passenger seat during the shooting. [VICTIM #1] was in stable condition. [VICTIM #2] suffered a gunshot wound in his right buttocks. He was seated in the rear passenger seat during the shooting. He was in stable condition. [VICTIM #3] suffered a possible grazing to his left leg. He was seated behind the driver. I also collected a live 9MM round from [VICTIM #3]’s clothing. [VICTIM #4] was the driver at the time of the shooting. She did not suffer any injuries.
After interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, I found that their participation in the shooting was self-defense. Their testimonies matched what I viewed on camera footage. The male subjects admitted to firing back once the offenders starting the shooting. They were not 100% certain of their attackers but they believed one of them to be Camari Fields AKA “Spin”. They have had altercations with him before, and he is also suspected of an aggravated assault incident on [VICTIM #2]’ residence. This attack left [VICTIM #3] with a gunshot wound to the left chest. [VICTIM #2] advised me that the tension begin with [VICTIM #2] having sex with one of Camari’s friend’s girlfriend.
The male subjects also advised me that they “ditched” their firearms in the nearby area after they fled the scene. They could give an exact location. [VICTIM #1] drove them all to Atrium Navicent for treatment.
I attempted to locate their firearms but was not successful.
Crimes against Person and Gang investigations were contacted and arrived at Atrium Navicent.
