On Monday, December 16th, 2024, at 0157 hours, I, Sgt. Gunn responded to [900 BLOCK] Washington St. regarding damaged property called in by Burke County EMA. Burke County EMA responded at 0142 hours in reference to smoke in the residence, which was later discovered to be caused by a damaged cell phone.
Upon my arrival, I activated my department-issued body camera and made contact with Louis Bonner. Bonner stated his godson, Tracy Dixon, came home after 2200 hours and confronted him about coming home so late. Bonner stated after confronting Dixon, Dixon became upset and jumped on his back while in the kitchen. Bonner stated that’s when he grabbed a knife off the kitchen sink and swung it backward, striking Dixon. Bonner stated Dixon became more upset and began damaging his property in the residence. Bonner stated Dixon damaged his black Android cell phone valued at 90.00 dollars and a lamp with an unknown value. Bonner stated he also flipped chairs and desks over inside the residence. Bonner stated no other damage was observed.
A short time later, Dixon returned to the residence to report that he was stabbed by his godfather, Bonner. Dixon stated that after coming home from watching football with his friends, Bonner confronted him, who was agitated. Dixon stated Bonner snapped at him and grabbed him by his throat with two hands. Dixon stated Bonner then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in his back. Dixon stated he became upset from being stabbed and began destroying property in the residence. Dixon stated that after damaging the cell phone and other items in the residence, he left the residence.
I, Sgt. Gunn observed several items in the residence that were in disarray and knocked over. I also observed a black cell phone on the front porch, which was damaged. Next to the couch, there was glass and pieces of a lamp on the floor. The cost of damage was less than 500.00 per Bonner. During my investigation, I observed a scratch mark on the forehead of Dixon along with a stab wound to his upper back. Burke EMA treated Dixon’s injuries and was medically cleared. I also observed a long silver knife on the kitchen table. I did not observe any injuries to Bonner during my investigation. I obtained pictures of the damaged property and injuries sustained by Dixon. The knife was collected for evidence and was turned into the Burke County evidence locker on property receipt #08178.
Both Dixon and Bonner were taken into custody with both hands secured in cuffs behind their backs. They were then placed in the back of a patrol car, seatbelted, and transported to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Dixon was booked in for criminal trespass FV, and Bonner was booked in for aggravated assault. Warrants were obtained and turned into the Burke County Records division. On call Duty Supervisor Major Vinson was notified of the incident.
