On Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, at 2043 hours, I, Sgt Gunn, was conducting a concentrated patrol of Waters St. at East 11th Street due to a recent call involving a shooting (See Waynesboro PD case #2024-115421).

While checking the area, I observed a black male wearing a red hoodie walking down E 11th St. The subject cut between 112 E 11th Street, which is a closed business, upon observing my patrol car. I activated my department issued body camera and attempted to make contact with the subject. While exiting my patrol car and asking to speak with him, he took off running on foot towards Fuller St. The subject ran behind several houses towards the train tracks. I gave the subject several verbal commands to stop running. The subject eventually gave up and was taken into custody.

I placed the subject, who was identified as Verrazzaman Wilson, in handcuffs secured behind his back and checked for fit. The subject was then walked back to Deputy Kirklands patrol car. Due to a complaint by Wilson, EMA was requested to respond to check the subject. EMA arrived and checked Wilson, who was medically cleared. A records check was conducted through GCIC and it was learned that Wilson was wanted out of Broward County, Florida, which was verified through Records. Deputy Kirkland transported Wilson to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked for disorderly conduct and a hold was placed on him for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Citation number B14001006 was issued to Wilson for one count of Disorderly Conduct.
