On 06/16/2026 at approximately 1551 hours I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Walthall Rd, Jackson, GA 30233 (Butts County) in reference to a domestic dispute in progress.

Upon my arrival I found a female subject later identified as Ms. [WITNESS #1] standing in the driver door area of a green Ford F250 parked in the drive way of the residence speaking to a male party later identified as Mr. Brian who was seated in the passenger seat. I then exited my patrol car where I began to speak to Ms. [WITNESS #1] but Ms. [WITNESS #1] disregarded my presence and continued to speak to Mr. Brian. I then hear Ms. [WITNESS #1] state “Please don’t do this” and a brief reference of a firearm. At this time Mr. Brian poked his head out of the vehicle and observed my presence.

Once Mr. Brian noticed I was on scene he tucked his head back into the vehicle and began reaching around the vehicle near the glove box area. I then stepped back behind another truck that was parked in the driveway and placed my hand on my duty issued firearm but did not remove it from its holster. I then asked Mr. Brian to step out of the truck when he began to lightly chuckle. I then asked Ms. [WITNESS #1] to step over to me which she did. Mr. Brian then stepped out of the truck with his hands in plain view and stated that he used to be law enforcement and that I could remove my hand from my weapon.

I then asked Ms. Brian what was going on to which he was not forthcoming with information but rather explain how he would handle the situation if he were in my shoes. At this time I observed Mr. Brian to have pin point pupils and was unsteady on his feet. Once I got closer to Mr. Brian I smelled the odor of a alcoholic beverage coming from his person and breath. I then asked Mr. Brian once again what was going on and he continued to be more interested in my job than the situation that I was there to investigate. Once deputy Maulden arrived Mr. Brain began explain how he used to work for the Butts County Sheriffs Office before he was asked to resign.

Mr. Brian was asked again what was going on and he began explaining how him and Ms. [WITNESS #1] had gotten into a verbal argument because he did some work for Ms. [WITNESS #1]’s ex mother in law and he hadn’t been paid for it. I then asked Mr. Brian if he became physical with Ms. [WITNESS #1] at anytime and he stated that he had not. I then began to attempt further questioning of Mr. Brian and again he began talking about being ex law enforcement. Once Mr. Brian began talking about his time in law enforcement again I asked deputy Maulden to continue speaking with him while I spoke to Ms. [WITNESS #1].

Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that had gotten into a verbal altercation over her ex mother in law not paying him for work. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that she took the side of her ex mother in law and it upset Mr. Brian. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that nothing physical occurred between the her and Mr. Brian but she stated he made remarks of harming himself to her. Ms. [WITNESS #1] also stated that her and Mr. Brian both had been drinking alcohol from approximately 11 am to the time of my arrival. I advised Ms. [WITNESS #1] that because no physical contact was made and both her and Mr. Brain being under the influence that I could only advised them to stay on separate areas of the house.

I then went back to Mr. Brian to advise him of the solution and that is when he advise he had discharged a firearm inside the residence closet while making suicidal remarks. Mr. Brain stated that he did not plan to harm himself and only fired the firearm into the floor of the closet. I then asked Mr. Brain why he didn’t provide this information sooner and he stated that he thought Ms. [WITNESS #1] would have told me because she was the one that called.

After finding this information EMS was started to the scene to check on Mr. Brain’s well being. EMS personal advised that Mr. Brain had no thoughts of harming himself or others. I then entered the house escorted by Ms. [WITNESS #1] and asked her why she had not stated Mr. Brian fired a firearm in the house. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she wanted Mr. Brian to tell us because he is the one that did it.

I then asked Ms. [WITNESS #1] if she could show me the closet where Mr. Brain fired the weapon. Once in the closet I was unable to locate a shell casing or any bullet holes in the room. Ms. [WITNESS #1] then stated that she did not witness Mr. Brain shoot the gun but she was in the hallway walking into the room when she heard it. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she became scared for Mr. Brian so she called 911.

I then advised Ms. [WITNESS #1] that Mr. Brian would be going to jail for Disorderly Conduct for discharging the firearm in the house while in a intoxicated state and while being in a verbal argument. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that she understood and asked if she could come outside when Mr. Brain was placed into cuffs. I advised Ms. [WITNESS #1] that I would prefer her to stay inside.

I then informed Deputy Maulden of the decision and Mr. Brian was placed into custody. Mr. Brain was then transported to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office jail where he was booked on his charge of disorderly conduct. Ms. [WITNESS #1] was able to provide a brief written statement of the incident. Mr. [WITNESS #1]’s statement was uploaded to this report.

After transporting Mr. Brian to jail I along with Sgt. Bivins returned to the residence and attempted to obtain further information from Ms. [WITNESS #1] now that Mr. Brian was not on scene. When Ms. [WITNESS #1] was asked if any other persons was on scene during the incident Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that her grandfather was there but he is on hospice care and is sedated twenty four hours a day.

I then asked Ms. [WITNESS #1] if Mr. Brian had gotten into verbal altercation with her exmother in laws earlier that day and she stated that he did. I then asked Ms. [WITNESS #1] if Mr. Brian had made any threats to her and she advised that she did not recall any threats being made. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that the information she provided me on the original call was how the incident occurred and nothing further took place. Due to lack of cooperation I was unable to pursue any further charges.

Ms. [WITNESS #1] was informed on how to obtain a TPO (Temporary Protective Order) if she felt that she needed one. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she is not scared of Mr. Brian but only scared of what he might do to himself. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she had called her son over and had removed all the firearms he could locate from the house as well. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she just didn’t want Mr. Brain to come back home until he was sober. Ms. [WITNESS #1] was informed that Mr. Brain was able to be bonded out at anytime. Ms. [WITNESS #1] then stated that she would get him in the morning when he was sober.
