While on Lake Patrol with the Butts, County Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Vaughn and Captain. J. Pitts were dispatched to a fight in progress located in the water just before Kersey’s bridge.
Upon arrival, Vaughn noticed a male subject floating in the water on a square throwable float. Several individuals on two separate boats pointed at the subject, who was floating in the water, and stated that he was the primary aggressor. The Male subject in the water stated “it was me, I’m the guy.” This person was later identified as Eliseo Varajas. Vaughn also noticed a male subject lying across the back of one of the boats, naked and gasping for air. The male subject also had blood coming from his facial area. This male subject was later identified as [VICTIM #1].
Vaughn made contact with [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #3]. Both stated the subject floating in the water jumped off of Kersey’s Bridge onto their boat after they made him get off of the boat due to him being extremely intoxicated and irate. Miss [VICTIM #2] and Miss [VICTIM #3] stated that after Mr. Varajas landed on the boat, he punched Ms. [VICTIM #2] in the head. Vaughn then observed a large knot above Ms. [VICTIM #2]’s right eye.
Vaughn and Pitts made contact with Mr. Varajas, assisted him into the Butts County Sheriffs Office boat, and immediately placed him in handcuffs. Mr. Varajas was also placed in a life jacket and transported to the closest dock located at 662 Barnett’s Bridge Rd. Vaughn had Ms. [VICTIM #3], along with the witnesses, drive their boats to the same dock so he could get more of their statements. Once at the dock, Mr. Varajas was turned over to patrol deputies and transported to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office, where he was turned over to booking personnel. Mr. [VICTIM #1] was turned over to EMS and transported to Piedmont Newton.
Vaughn made contact with Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Ms. [VICTIM #3] again. Both stated that after Mr. Varajas struck Ms. [VICTIM #2] in the head, he began fighting [VICTIM #1]. During this fight. Mr. Varajas struck Mr. [VICTIM #1] several times. Both Mr. Varajas and Mr. [VICTIM #1] fell into the water. At this time, Mr. Varajas placed his arm around Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s neck, placed him in a headlock, and began choking him. Vaughn asked both Ms. [VICTIM #3] and Ms. [VICTIM #2] how Mr. [VICTIM #1] ended up naked. The advised during the altercation Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s clothes came off. Ms. [VICTIM #3] also stated sometime during this incident, Mr. Varajas grabbed her iphone 16 pro and threw it in the lake.
After talking to Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Ms. [VICTIM #3], Vaughn made contact with several witnesses. All witness statements matched what Ms. [VICTIM #2] and Ms. [VICTIM #3] had told Vaughn.
