On Monday, April 24th, 2023, I was dispatched to a domestic disturbance at [800 BLOCK] S Satilla St in the city limits of Kingsland. Dispatch advised caller’s husband was banging at the doors and know to be violent. Dispatch advised he got in the house and drives a silver, Dodge. I proceeded to the call routine flow of traffic.
While pulling onto S Satilla St Officer Remedios observed a silver Dodge driving in the opposite direction away from the residence. He advised the other units behind us and they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. We observed a female running down the road who was identified as [VICTIM #1].
She advised the silver Dodge driving down the road was her husband. Officer Remedios gave [VICTIM #1] a ride back to her residence and left to assist the other Officers on the vehicle chase with [VICTIM #1]’s husband. [VICTIM #1] explained to me that her husband Dwayne has not been acting the same and they have been distant for the last few months.
She stated that Dwayne had come to see her and the kids and the conversation turned into an argument. She stated he was refusing to let her out of the bedroom but when she told him she was going outside to smoke he moved. [VICTIM #1] then stated he was going to leave and she locked the doors he started to bang on the doors and she called 911.
Dwayne then took the ac unit out of the window and came into the home. She stated she tried to hide her phone while she was on the line with 911 but he found it and took it from her. [VICTIM #1] stated Dwayne has been violent in the past and was worried he was going to do something so she started running down the road and took her phone.
[VICTIM #1] stated she wanted to press charges against Dwayne for stealing her phone. [VICTIM #1]’s mother arrived and was identified as [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] and Dwayne have been having issues and is angry because they know that she is getting [VICTIM #1] out of this situation.
She stated that they are going to apply for housing tomorrow and in the meantime, [VICTIM #1] and the kids can stay with her to be safe. I did advise [VICTIM #1] that Dwayne was going to jail and would be notified when he is released. [VICTIM #1] filled out a written statement which will be attached to this report.
I provided [VICTIM #1] with a case card and informed her how to obtain a copy of this report. I also obtained the brand and model of the phone and provided that information to Officer Shoemaker.
