On April 9, 2024, around 4:00 PM, officers were dispatched to Pelican Point Apartments located at [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Pelican Point in St. Marys, GA 31558 (Camden County) in reference to shots fired. I, Sgt. Olson, was just down the road and responded in vehicle #704 without lights and siren. We were told a silver vehicle by the dumpsters was involved. The caller also wanted to be anonymous. We were told a silver vehicle was possibly involved.
Upon arrival, I observed a silver vehicle with a black male in a red shirt standing at the driver’s side door. I asked him if he heard any shots. He stated he had just pulled in. I explained the call I received. He was patted down for weapons and his car was searched. Nothing was found.
At this time Officer Thornton was getting out with the silver vehicle with GA tag [REDACTED] This vehicle contained the victims, identified as [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. The vehicle was involved in the shooting.
Investigators were on scene by this time. Officer Thornton advised us that [WITNESS #1] and Luis Rivera were the shooters. The property manager of Pelican Point Apartments was able to tell us the suspects live in apartment [REDACTED]. Sgt. Stokes, Det. Bennett, and I knocked on apartment [REDACTED]. Mr. Luis Rivera and [WITNESS #1] came to the door. They were handcuffed and separated. Both were read their Miranda Rights. Mr. Rivera said he would not talk to us. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she would.
I arrested Mr. Rivera for two counts of aggravated assault and completed booking paperwork. Officer Thornton transported Mr. Rivera to the Camden County Jail without incident.
Det. Bennett is securing arrest warrants.
