On 06/26/2023 at approximately 6:07 PM, I responded to 111 Robert L. Edenfield Dr in the City of Kingsland in reference to assisting another agency with a traffic stop.
Upon arrival I made contact with Chief Galloway of the St. Mary’s Police Department. Chief Galloway stated that the driver who was later identified as Mack McLemore was highly intoxicated and that when the vehicle came to a stop Mr. McLemore threw something out through the passenger side window.
Chief Galloway then showed me where the item was located on the ground. I was able to observe a plastic bag and when I picked up the bag I observed a Green leafy substance and multiple White in color rectangular bars. The Green Leafy substance was later field tested and was positive for marijuana. The White rectangular bars were identified through Drugs.com and was identified as Xanax which is a Schedule IV.
I then made contact with Mr. McLemore. Mr. McLemore appeared to be highly intoxicated, he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and I could also smell the odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. As I walked back to my patrol Ofc. Waldrop who arrived on scene moments later and Chief Galloway placed Mr. McLemore under arrest due to him attempting to leave and becoming irate.
I asked dispatch to run Mr. McLemore’s Mississippi Driver’s License through NCIC/GCIC. His information came back that Mr. McLemore license had been suspended for Failure to appear. I also asked dispatch for Mr. McLemore’s drivers history in which dispatch advised that he did not have anything on his history.
Due to Mr. McLemore not cooperating with Officers I was unable to conduct Standardized Field Sobriety. Mr. McLemore was transported by Ofc. Waldrop to the Camden County Jail for booking purposes. Mr. McLemore was charged with DUI less safe, Driving while License Suspended, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and Possession of a Schedule IV. The marijuana and the Xanax bars were dropped into evidence.
