CARROLL COUNTY – At the request of the Georgia State Patrol and the Carrollton Police Department, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting which occurred in Carroll County this morning.
Multiple law-enforcement officers were injured after shots were fired during a pursuit early Monday morning near Bremen, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Around 4:30 a.m., the Georgia State Patrol began pursuing a vehicle on I-20, which eventually led officers into Carroll County.
Three officers were shot, one deputy from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, an officer with the Carrollton Police Department, and another from the Villa Rica Police Department.
Reports say one suspect is dead and another is in custody. No word yet on the condition of the officers.
The scene is no longer considered “active” and no threat to the public remains.
