Officer’s Narrative:

On the above date at 0548 hours, I was dispatched to 1218 Maple Street (Sammy’s BP) in reference to a signal 911. While en route, dispatch advised that the complainant, later identified as [VICTIM #1], said her boyfriend beat her up and then put her in the car and kicked her out at the BP. The CAD notes stated that the boyfriend’s name was Markaleb Anders. Dispatch gave a partial tag number of [REDACTED]. Officers were able to identify the full tag number as [REDACTED], which was registered to Markaleb. Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] was crying, and I could see the tear marks going down her cheeks. [VICTIM #1] was taking very quick, short breaths as if she was hyperventilating.

A short time after I was interviewing [VICTIM #1], she looked at the car and looked to be in shock at a car going by, and said that she believed that it was Markaleb’s car. Sgt. Medert went to see if the vehicle was the one we were looking for.

[VICTIM #1] at first said that Markaleb did not have a gun that she knew of, but then remembered that he does own a gun. [VICTIM #1] stated that Markaleb may be going to his family’s house off of “Scarlett Drive”.

[VICTIM #1] said that Markalab had beaten her and taken her from her apartment this morning and would not let her out of the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] said that she saw her opportunity and ran out of the car and into the BP station this morning while Markaleb was parked there. [VICTIM #1] said that she saw the open sign on at the BP and locked the BP door behind her when she made it inside. [VICTIM #1] said that she grabbed Markaleb’s license before she got out because she was unable to grab her belongings due to Markaleb having them. [VICTIM #1] told me that she knew her keys, wallet, purse, and two phones were in Markaleb’s vehicle when he left the parking lot.

[VICTIM #1] and I relocated back to her apartment at [REDACTED BY AGENCY], after officers had detained Markaleb, where she found her two phones, wallet, and purse were on the table, but her keys and two ring cameras were missing.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she and Markaleb broke up about a week or a week and a half ago. [VICTIM #1] said that she and Markaleb have been living at her apartment together since March 1, 2025 and that Markaleb would go to his mom’s at [100 BLOCK] Scarlett Place Dr. in Bowdon sometimes when they argued. [VICTIM #1] said that this morning, at around what she believes was 0430 hours, she was woken up to Markaleb hitting her in the face with her phone and accusing her of cheating on him. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was naked. [VICTIM #1] said that she was confused about how Markaleb got into the apartment because he was not supposed to have a key and she was groggy from being woken up. [VICTIM #1] told me that Markaleb began strangling her to the point she could not breathe and felt like she was going to pass out while he was also punching her. [VICTIM #1] stated that she could just remember that Markaleb was punching her all over. [VICTIM #1] told me that she believes she blacked out because she does not remember at what point Markaleb stopped strangling her or why he stopped strangling her.

[VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb threw her against the window next to her bed and he also threw her into the TV, which broke the TV. [VICTIM #1] said that she and Markaleb fought inside the closet before he trapped her in the closet and would not let her leave. [VICTIM #1] stated Markaleb forced her outside and into his vehicle even though she did not want to go anywhere with him. [VICTIM #1] stated that the neighbor who lives above her possibly saw it and heard the altercation because Markaleb had threatened him.

The neighbor was seen walking down the stairs after I knocked on their door, but seemed very hesitant about talking to me. The neighbor stated that they did not see anything but heard arguing and someone yelling stop.

[VICTIM #1] said that she jumped out of Markaleb’s vehicle while it was moving in front of Central High School. [VICTIM #1] stated that it was in front of the house in front of the school. [VICTIM #1] told me that she was yelling for help and Markaleb got out of the vehicle, put her back into his vehicle, and went to the Kroger parking lot. [VICTIM #1] said that she kept begging Markaleb to let her out of the car and said that he told her she was not going anywhere. [VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb kept talking to himself while he had her in the car and seemed to be nervous and panicked manner by saying he just needed to calm down. [VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb thought he saw a cop, panicked, and took the back roads to the BP.

[VICTIM #1] stated that was when she grabbed Markaleb’s license and ran out of the car into the store, locking the BP door behind her, asking the clerk, [REDACTED], to call 911 for help. [VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb kept circling the parking lot and at one point got out of the car and taunted her by holding up her keys. [VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb left the parking lot but she stayed until officers arrived. [VICTIM #1] said that she could not remember if she locked her door last night or not.

[VICTIM #1] said that Markaleb got into her phone and tried to delete the videos she took this morning and also disconnected her Ring cameras.

[VICTIM #1] did have swelling on her right cheek, what looked to be light scrape marks on her legs, and what seemed to be light red marks on her neck.

Officer Medert was able to get [VICTIM #1]’s keys and ring cameras and bring them back to her.

One of Markaleb’s family members came to the apartment to retrieve Markaleb’s gun that was left there. I unloaded the weapon and put it into a ziplock bag given to me by [VICTIM #1]. Sgt. Jones gave the the gun to Markaleb’s family member.

Markaleb’s family had told other officers that they gave a lot of stuff to Markaleb and [VICTIM #1] as house warming gifts when they moved into the apartment.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she does want to prosecute.

Officer Krish (#261) went to the BP station to retrieve the video footage from [REDACTED].

I went to Central High School and retrieved video of where [VICTIM #1] stated she jumped out of the vehicle. In the video I could see a vehicle driving down Central High Road towards South Park Street and stop in front of the house in front of the school ([100 BLOCK] Central High Road) at aprroximately 0533. I could see what looked to be someone get out of the driver’s side of the vehicle and walk around the rear toward the side of the road. The vehicle then left towards South Park Street again a short time later.

Scans of the AI sheet along with pictures of where the incident occurred, [VICTIM #1], where the ring camera was disconnected this morning, the videos [VICTIM #1] took this morning while the incident was happening, and the video from Central High School have been attached to this report.

It should be noted that a screen protecting one of [VICTIM #1]’s windows was damaged from her going through a window at her apartment in order to gain access inside because Markaleb had her keys.

This falls under the Georgia Family Violence act due to Markaleb and [VICTIM #1] living together in the apartment since March 1, 2025.

[VICTIM #1] was given a victim notification card and told about various protection orders she could try to get against Markaleb.

This case is in correlation with CAD case # 25051232 which is the case number dispatch gave Sgt. Medert when he verified the vehicle that passed at the BP was the vehicle we were looking for.

Warrants have been done through Anywhere Warrant.
