On 09/14/2025 at approximately 0237 hours, I responded to 780 Bankhead Highway (Southern Suites) in reference to a stabbing.
Upon my arrival, I saw the victim (later identified as [VICTIM #1]) in the area of The Crafty Crab. I asked her where the suspect was, and she pointed to the side of 780 Bankhead Highway. I called out the victim’s location and began to run where the suspect was. As I approached the suspect, I saw that he had blood on his clothes, and I was not able to see if there was anything in his hands. I unholstered my department-issued Glock 35 (SN:AFGW349) and pointed it at the suspect, while giving several loud verbal commands to show me his hands and get on the ground. The suspect (later identified as Tony Brown) showed me his hands; however, he refused to get on the ground. At this time, Ofc. Rodriguez arrived and pointed his taser at the suspect. Seeing that he was refusing lawful commands and was possibly still armed with the knife, I told Ofc. Rodriguez to tase him. Ofc. Rodriguez did, and he was placed into handcuffs that were double locked and checked for fit.
I gave a medical update to the Carroll County Dispatch Center of the suspects’ injuries, and requested another ambulance to respond to the scene.
Once in handcuffs, I assisted in rendering medical aid to Tony. Cpl. Christensen read his Miranda Warning. Tony said that he stabbed her because she sicced that dog on him. Tony told me this was an attempt to get her off of him. I asked him where the knife was, and Tony told me that he did not have the knife on him and did not know where it was. He told me that if he had not had it, the dog would have killed him. Tony told me the dog had bitten him in the arm and the leg. I asked him if he was okay other than what he had pointed out so far, and he told me he did not care.
West Georgia Ambulance arrived a short time later and evaluated both the victim and the suspect. The first ambulance (West Georgia Truck 41) chooses to take the victim to the hospital after looking at both parties.
After that, the second ambulance arrived (West Georgia 45) and checked on Tony. They said that the bleeding was controlled enough to transport them in a police car to Tanner Medical Center. I helped place Tony in the back of Ofc. Rodriguez’s car and asked the ambulance to follow us. They agreed and followed him.
I arrived at Tanner and met with Ofc. Rodriguez and Tony was placed in room 5 for evaluation. Tanner cleared him for transport to the jail. I transported Tony Brown to the Carroll County Jail, where he was charged with the following:
Aggravated Assault – 16-5-21: Tony Brown did commit the offense of Aggravated Assault when he used a knife to stab his daughter [VICTIM #1] in the chest. Tony admitted to stabbing her, which caused severe injury to her chest. This occurred during a domestic dispute.
Obstruction – 16-10-24: Tony Brown did commit the offense of Obstruction when he refused several lawful commands while the officer attempted to detain him. This occurred during a domestic dispute where he stabbed his daughter, [VICTIM #1].
Warrants have been typed and await a judge’s signature.
This incident falls under the Georgia Family Violence Act due to [VICTIM #1] being the daughter of Tony Brown.
[End of Narrative]
