[NARRATIVE #1 on June 27, 2026]

On June 27,2026, I was on uniformed patrol in the city of Port Wentworth in Chatham County, Ga. At approximately 1246 hours, I received a call regarding a domestic disturbance requiring EMS at [900 BLOCK] SR-21 (Rice Creek Apartments) APT [REDACTED] with the caller enroute. The call notes detailed that the complainant and suspect were not on scene and that the incident did not take place at the Rice Creek Apartments. It was later discovered during my investigation that the incident took place at a location on Grange Rd, with the possible incident locations being [200 BLOCK] Grange Rd. or [200 BLOCK] Grange Rd. I initially responded to the Rice Creek Apartments APT [REDACTED] and waited for the complaintant to arrive.

I remained on scene while the complainant, [VICTIM #1], arrived. She arrived with another individual who identified himself as [REDACTED]. Mr. [REDACTED] arrived with Ms. [VICTIM #1] in a bobtail truck, and he said the following: he saw her walking alongside Grange Rd. alone and saw that she was injured. He asked if she needed help and offered her a ride home. He said she asked him to call the police for her due to her not having a cell phone. He picked her up and drove her home while speaking to 911 operators. [REDACTED] said he was busy with work, so he left the scene before I spoke to Ms. [VICTIM #1] further.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] was treated by the Port Wentworth Fire Department and Chatham County EMS as soon as she arrived at the Rice Creek Apartments due to them being staged before her arrival. While she as being treated, I could see that her lip was bloody, her right shoulder was scraped and bleeding, her left knee was cut, the area behind her left ear was cut, her right elbow was scraped, and she had slight redness around her neck. All of her injuries were documented by photographs.

I then asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] about the incident, and she said the following: she was at a truck lot on Grange Rd. with her partner Branielus Ross, who she lives with. She could not recall the exact location of the incident, but she described the location as a big truck lot across from the Georgia Ports Authority Gate on Grange Rd. She said Ross was teaching her how to drive a red automatic tractor trailer when they began arguing inside the cab. She said she was in the passenger seat of the cab when Ross stepped outside the cab from the driver’s seat. She said she took a cup of her drink and threw it at Ross, striking him in the face

She said it made him angry, so he walked around the vehicle to her side. She said she got out and attempted to run from Ross when he used his arm to put her in a choke hold. She said, while she was in a choke hold, Ross threw her to the ground by her neck. She said she sustained the scrape to her shoulder due to being thrown onto the concrete by Ross. She said Ross then got on top of her and grabbed her by her throat with his hand and began squeezing her neck. She said she did not lose consciousness, but she was unable to breathe. She said he eased up on her neck after some time, left, got into her black 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer (GA [REDACTED]).

She said Ross told her to get into he vehicle, which she refused because she was afraid. She said she began walking down Grange Rd. alone when Mr. [REDACTED] stopped and offered her help. She said Mr. [REDACTED] allowed her to use his phone to call the police and report the incident. It should be noted that Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle was not reported stolen at this time due to Ross having permission in the past to drive the vehicle. I remained on scene while I obtained more information regarding Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle. I provided her with a CRN pamphlet before leaving the scene and advised her to call if Ross returns to the apartment.

Based off of her description, the possible locations of the incident could include [200 BLOCK] Grange Rd. or [200 BLOCK] Grange Rd. Follow up reports will be completed to determine the exact location of the incident

At 1847 hours the same day, I received a call regarding a domestic disturbance at the Rice Creek apartments APT [REDACTED]. The call notes detailed that Ms. [VICTIM #1] called back stating Ross had returned home with her vehicle. OFC Parris arrived on scene before I did and placed Ross under arrest before my arrival. When I arrived, I read Miranda Rights to Ross, and he refused to speak to me in regards to he incident.

OFC Parris then transported Ross to the Chatham County Detention Center without issue. Ross was made aware of his charges of 16-5-21(b)(3) Aggravated Assault – Strangulation and 16-5-23.1 Battery – FV. He was provided subpoenas and advised of his court date by OFC Parris.

[NARRATIVE #2 on June 27, 2026]

On June 27,2026, I was on duty in the City of Port Wentworth, Chatham County, Georgia. At approximately 1900 hrs, I responded to Rice Creek Apartments, located at [9000 BLOCK] Highway 21, in reference to a domestic violence incident.

Upon anival, I proceeded to Apartment [REDACTED] in an attempt to make contact with the victim; however, there was no answer at the door. Officers then relocated to the parking lot while attempting to contact the victim by cellular telephone and speaking with officers from the day shift regarding the earlier incident. Officers advised that the suspect was identified as Branielus Ross and that probable cause had been established for Aggravated Assault (Strangulation) and Battery under the Family Violence Act.

While standing in the parking lot, I observed a black Honda Civic backed into a parking space adjacent to the apartment building. The male driver closely resembled Branielus Ross and continuously watched the officers on scene. I approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, at which time the driver lowered the window. I requested that he produce identification to confirm his identity as the individual we were attempting to locate. The driver was reluctant to comply. I then instructed him to exit the vehicle, but he initially refused.

I radioed Sgt. Gonzales and requested that he position his patrol vehicle in front of the Honda Civic to prevent it from leaving the scene. Sgt. Gonzales and Officer Hoskins then approached the vehicle with me, and we repeatedly gave Branielus verbal commands to exit the vehicle. After several commands, Branielus complied and exited the vehicle. I advised Branielus that he was being detained while the investigation continued and placed him in handcuffs. The handcuffs were adjusted for properfit, checked for tightness, and double-locked. Branielus was searched incident to detention, and no weapons or contraband were located.

Branielus was then placed in the rear seat of my marked patrol vehicle, which had been searched prior to his placement and found to be free of contraband. He was advised that Officer Eason, the primary officer investigating the domestic violence incident, would be responding to speak with him.

After Officer Eason arrived on scene and completed his investigation, he advised me that Branielus was under arrest and instructed me to transport him to the Chatham County Detention Center. Branielus was secured with the vehicle’s seat belt and transported without incident. Upon arrival at the detention center, Branielus was turned over to jail staff for booking and processing.

After the transport was complete, I searched the rear seat of my patrol vehicle for contraband, and none was found.

[NARRATIVE #3 on June 27, 2026]

27 June 2026, I responded to [9000 BLOCK] SR 21 (Rice Creek Apartments in reference to a physical domestic incident that had occurred.

Upon arrival, OFC Eason and I stood by while the complainant arrived from [200 BLOCK] Grange Rd, where the incident occurred.

Once Ms. [VICTIM #1] arrived, she explained the incident that she and her live-in boyfriend were at one of the last 2 warehouses on the left on Grange Rd before getting to SR 25, practicing driving maneuvers when they began to argue. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Ross had never gotten physical with her previously, but this time, she crossed the line when she threw her cup at him. At this point, Mr. Ross performed a rear choke on Ms. [VICTIM #1], slammed her to the ground, and proceeded to choke her to the point she was gasping for breath.

I was able to observe abrasions on her left shoulder that were fresh and multiple scrapes on her legs, including a fresh abrasion behind her right ear. I then instructed OFC Eason to photograph the injuries, and I was unable to observe any petechiae in her eyes or wounds on either of her hands.

I made command notifications of the incident and passed on to the night shift supervisor the information about the incident and the suspect Ms. [VICTIM #1] identified.

On June 28,2026 at 12:05 hours, Ross was anaigned by Judge Ty Wilson and given no bond. Judge Wilson set Ross’s court date as June 30,2026.
