On Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2336 hours I was dispatched to a domestic with injuries at [100 BLOCK] Michelle Street. When I arrived on scene, I made contact with the complainant, Samantha Caudill.
Mrs. Caudill stated that she and her boyfriend whom she resides with and share three children together, [VICTIM #1], got into a verbal argument. I then asked Mrs. Caudill what started the argument. She stated that Mr. [VICTIM #1] got home today from playing soccer with his friends around 2300 hours tonight and he was beating on the front door wanting her to let him inside the house. Mrs. Caudill stated that she was not going to open the door due to their argument earlier on today’s date because the kids were sleeping.
Mrs. Caudill stated that when she let Mr. [VICTIM #1] inside the residence, they began verbal arguing about her not wanting to open the door. She stated this argument occurred while she was holding the baby. She then stated that Mr. [VICTIM #1] hit her in the face with an open hand and scratched her neck. At that point, Mrs. Caudill stated that she did not want to do anything stupid so she called 911.
I then made contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that he arrived at home at 2300 hours and was beating on the front door trying to get inside the house but Mrs. Caudill would not let him in the residence. When Mrs. Caudill let Mr. [VICTIM #1] inside the residence, they began to have a verbal argument about why she would not let him inside the residence. At some point during the argument, it began to get physical.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mrs. Caudill grabbed a knife and was trying to stab Mr. [VICTIM #1] while “he” was holding their 3 month old baby. While attempting to stab Mr. [VICTIM #1], Mrs. Cuadill sliced his right shoulder. Based on officer observations, the laceration was approximately 3 inches in length and fairly deep in the middle (see attached photos).
Garden City Fire and Chatham EMS were dispatched to the scene to check on the injuries. Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mrs. Caudill both refused to be transported even though Mr. [VICTIM #1] was treated on scene for his injuries. I was then advised by Sgt Green that the on call detective was en route to the scene for further investigation.
Detective Love arrived on scene and took over the investigation. After Detective Love concluded his investigation, I placed Mrs. Caudill under arrest for Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree (the 3 month old child witnessed the aggravated assault incident), Possession of Marijuana (less than an ounce).
Mrs. Caudill was placed in handcuffs that were sized to fit and double locked behind her back, and placed into the transport compartment of my patrol unit, that was checked for contraband prior to transport and after transport. No Contraband was found. She was then transported to Memorial where she was cleared to go to the Chatham County Jail where she is pending arraignment.
I contacted DFCS and spoke with [REDACTED], Mrs. [REDACTED] started a report for the incident. I then filled out a Victim Notification form and gave it to the Chatham County Jail.
