On Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 18:01, I was dispatched to the Chattooga Emergency Room about a 16-year-old male having been physically assaulted.
Upon arrival, I spoke with the juvenile and his mother, [WITNESS #1]. The Juvenile stated that his sister, [WITNESS #2], came home from work and advised Mr. Smith that she needed to talk to her. He said that they went outside and spoke, and then they came back in and spoke with his stepdad, Aubrey Smith. The juvenile stated that Mr. Smith said “I’m going to end up going to jail tonight if any of this is true”. He stated that Mr. Smith came and confronted him, asking him if any of it was true. The juvenile advised Mr. Smith that [REDACTED] had said something and that he was just joking around with [REDACTED]. He stated that Mr. Smith then came across the bed and slapped him across the face. The juvenile stated that he stood up to defend himself and that Mr. Smith shoved him and then swung striking him in the head. He stated that Mr. Smith continued hitting him and he fell to the ground. The juvenile stated that he stood back up and Mr. Smith put his beer down. He stated that Mr. Smith approached him again and he told him to get away from him and Mr. Smith said, “What are you going to do?”. The juvenile stated that Mr. Smith shoved him and swung at him, and that may have been when the window in the room broke. He stated that he balled up and ended up on the ground again after getting hit so many times. The juvenile stated that Mr. Smith was screaming that he was going to break his arms and legs. He said Mr. Smith said, “You’re lucky she’s here or I’d kill you”.
Ms. [WITNESS #1] confirmed the juvenile’s account of the events that occurred.
I did observe injuries to both sides of the juvenile’s face.
I contacted Investigator Josh Strauss.
I went to [40 BLOCK] Sturdivant Drive and met with Mr. Smith. He stated that there have been ongoing issues with the juvenile. He stated that earlier this date the juvenile had made a threat that he was going to Swiss cheese Mr. and Mrs. [WITNESS #1] and their kids. Mr. Smith stated that was unacceptable and that he sat down with the juvenile to confront him about the statement. He stated that the juvenile advised him that he did not mean the little ones. Mr. Smith stated that the juvenile stood up out of bed and swung on him and he subdued him. He stated the juvenile got up and was belligerent again and he subdued him again. Mr. Smith stated that Ms. [WITNESS #1] thought that through the juvenile being subdued that he might need a ride down to the doctor. He stated that she took the juvenile to the Emergency Room. Mr. Smith stated that today the Juvenile hit him in the face and that is what led him to being subdued. I asked Mr. Smith if, while restraining the juvenile, he was ever struck. Mr. Smith stated that while he was getting struck in the face by the juvenile, he might have had to aggressively deflect the strikes, and the juvenile may have struck himself. He stated that there were no definitive strikes to the juvenile.
I spoke with Ms. [WITNESS #2] and she stated that [REDACTED] had informed her on break at work that the juvenile had told him that if he had a gun, he would kill his family. She stated that she informed her mother and Mr. Smith of what she was told. She stated that Mr. Smith went to confront the juvenile about it and the juvenile got up out of bed and bucked up to him and swung. Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that Mr. Smith put the juvenile on his a*s. She stated that the Juvenile got up again and Mr. Smith defended himself.
I did not observe any injuries to Mr. Smith.
