On August 28th 2026, around the time of 0625 hours I was patrolling the area of East Armuchee Road, when I got behind a white in color Chrysler Pacific bearing a Tennessee tag of [REDACTED]. The vehicle was driving in the middle of the roadway, then it proceeded to slowly merge back into the right lane of travel.

The vehicle then made a swift jerking movement back into the opposite lane of travel, the vehicle then slowly drifted back into the correct lane of travel. The vehicle then slowly got back in the middle of the roadway where they traveled all the way to the intersection of Gore Subligna Road and East Armuchee, I then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the following fractions listed above.

I then walked to the driver’s side of the vehicle where I introduced myself as Deputy J. Claxton, The driver was identified as Austin Mcinturff, I asked Austin why he was all over the road he stated that he was trying to use his phone to get his gps up and running, I drive that area everyday and I know in that area no one gets cell service, I then observed his carotid artery was pumping so hard that I observed it, he then started getting a shaky voice and was avoiding eye contact with me. He finally looked at me when I stepped closer to the B pillar and I observed his pupils were pin point and his eyes were glossy.

I then asked him to step out of the vehicle and and speak to me. When he exited the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet, that’s when he stepped into the lights at the gas station and his pupils did not change. I then asked Austin if he took any medication, he stated that he didn’t. I then asked if he had consumed any alcohol drinks or smoked marijuana recently. He stated that he smoked marijuana the night prior, but he didn’t smoke anything this morning.

I then called for Deputy Reynolds to be enroute to me for assistance due to the fact I knew him personally.

Once the investigation was concluded I then placed him under the arrest for driving under the influence, he later denied a blood test. I then transported him to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident. I issued two uniform citations and filled out ALS form for his driver’s license.
