On above date and time I, Deputy A. Garmany #14 was advised of a public service needing to be placed in reference to a domestic issue between a male and female, the female complainant/victim requested a phone call because she was sick and she did not want to expose any of the responding deputies to her illness.
I placed a call to the victim later identified as [VICTIM #1], and while I was on the phone with her I could hear the male suspect later identified as Gilmer Beech yelling and cursing in the background. I asked the victim where the male suspect was and she advised me that he was outside in the yard, she advised that both of them were recently divorced and had been married for forty-five years, but had gotten back into a domestic relationship five years ago.
The victim stated that this has been an on-going issue for sometime and it always starts when she gets sick. The victim advised that she was sixty-six years old and is a cancer patient and that she was currently battling RSV and double pneumonia and that she just got out of the hospital.
While I was on the phone with the victim I could hear the suspect in the background banging, yelling and cursing the victim and when the victim told him that she was on the phone with the Sheriff’s Office he then made the statement “I am going to kill you before they get here.” I advised the victim that I was on the way to the residence, I then advised Deputy Claxton #12 and Cpl. Wilks #04 that I was en-route to the residence in reference to threats being made while I was on the phone with the complainant.
When I arrived on scene Deputy Claxton and Cpl. Wilks had the suspect already in custody and I advised Cpl. Wilks what I heard on the phone and he advised me when they pulled up to the house and announced themselves the male suspect ran to the back of the residence, due to approximately four or five aggressive dogs they called the suspect to them and placed him into custody, Deputy Claxton later transported him to the jail without incident.
I gathered the victim’s information and statement and documented her injuries and markings on BodyCam, I also advised the victim of different resources for domestic victims as well as TPO services.
