On 06/27/26 at approximately 2338 hours, I was dispatched to the area of Sixth Avenue and Highland Avenue in reference to a male subject involved in multiple physical altercations with individuals attending an event in the area. Upon arrival, I observed a male subject—later identified as TEVIN SMITH—shove both a male and a female subject.

SMITH was immediately instructed to place his hands on the hood of my department-issued patrol vehicle and remain there with other officers on scene. While SMITH was being monitored, I spoke with the female subject, who identified herself as SMITH’s mother, [VICTIM #1]. During our conversation, [VICTIM #1] advised me to place her son under arrest.

As I attempted to place SMITH in handcuffs, he began actively resisting. Despite his resistance, he was ultimately secured in handcuffs. After being handcuffed, SMITH became increasingly disorderly, and I detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. SMITH was then turned over to other officers, who transported him to the Chattooga County Jail.

Following SMITH’s transport, I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and the male subject I had observed being shoved, identified as [VICTIM #2]. [VICTIM #2] stated that SMITH had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and had begun initiating altercations with various individuals. [VICTIM #1] confirmed [VICTIM #2]’s account. No additional victims came forward during the investigation.

Based on the nature of the incident, TEVIN SMITH was arrested and charged with Simple Battery (F.V.A.), Disorderly Conduct, Public Drunkenness, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.
