On 07/16/2026 at approximately 0026 hours, City units were dispatched to the South End Circle K in reference to an ongoing physical domestic incident involving multiple subjects, with reports that one male was in possession of a firearm.

Upon my arrival, I observed a physical altercation still in progress. A male subject, later identified as WILL MITCHELL, was actively attempting to strike several individuals involved in the disturbance. Due to the nature of the call and the involvement of a firearm, all subjects were given lawful commands to get on the ground until the firearm could be located. All individuals complied except for WILL, who continued resisting and attempting to pull away from a female subject restraining him.

While attempting to get WILL to the ground, I detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. WILL continued resisting commands to place his hands behind his back until Officer Lindsey and I were able to secure him in handcuffs. He was then placed in my department-issued patrol vehicle.

I then spoke with the remaining individuals involved. The female attempting to restrain WILL, identified as [WITNESS #1], stated that a recent court date resulted in WILL being prohibited from contact with her, SEAN SAMMONS, and SAMMONS’ girlfriend due to prior issues. She explained she was attempting to prevent WILL from harming others until law enforcement arrived.

During this conversation, SAMMONS’ girlfriend, identified as [WITNESS #2], stated she had been struck by a male subject and wished to pursue charges. She was unsure of the male’s name and asked SAMMONS, who believed the subject to be named [REDACTED]. The male had fled prior to my arrival.

[WITNESS #2] stated that she and SAMMONS were inside the store playing slot machines when WILL arrived with friends and attempted to make amends for past issues. SAMMONS declined, which caused WILL to become angry and verbally aggressive toward SAMMONS and his group. [WITNESS #2] noted that WILL appeared intoxicated and was stumbling. [WITNESS #1] was on the phone with SAMMONS during the initial confrontation and responded to the store when advised that a physical altercation was imminent.

The firearm was run through GCIC.

It was then reported that WILL’s girlfriend was missing and possibly inside the store. A search of the store yielded negative results.

While obtaining SAMMONS’ statement, he explained that he was outside getting gasoline and speaking with friends when WILL arrived with his group and again attempted to reconcile. When SAMMONS declined, WILL became aggressive and began provoking him. Both groups attempted to de-escalate the situation. SAMMONS stated that after repeated provocation, he told WILL that if the threats continued, they would go behind the store and fight. Before SAMMONS could finish his account, [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2] advised that WILL and his girlfriend, [WITNESS #3], had previously been taken home before WILL returned with friends to confront SAMMONS again.

Another male subject, possibly [REDACTED], was also involved but fled prior to my arrival.

SAMMONS stated that due to the continued provocation, the groups moved behind the store. WILL “squared up” to SAMMONS, who then threw the first punch, initiating the physical altercation.

I was then called to speak with WILL’s girlfriend, [WITNESS #3], who had been picked up and brought back to the scene. [WITNESS #3] stated she attempted to de-escalate the situation but was unsuccessful. She said she advised WILL not to exit the vehicle during the earlier encounter while she went inside the store. When she returned, WILL and SAMMONS were arguing. She and WILL left, but he later returned with friends. [WITNESS #3] showed me a video on her cell phone depicting her approaching the altercation while attempting to de-escalate.

[WITNESS #3] stated that [WITNESS #1], whom she has a good-behavior warrant against, arrived with her biological father, [REDACTED], and that both had more involvement in the altercation than previously described. She stated that [REDACTED] struck WILL in the face and later chased [WITNESS #3] before throwing an unknown object at her and fleeing. [WITNESS #3] also stated that during the first encounter, SAMMONS brandished his firearm but did not point it at anyone.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that [REDACTED] was involved in the altercation and that SAMMONS threw the first punch.

Based on eyewitness statements, SEAN SAMMONS was placed under arrest for his involvement in the physical altercation.

Both WILL MITCHELL and SEAN SAMMONS were transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.

Due to the nature of the incident, WILL MITCHELL was charged with City Ordinances: Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. SEAN SAMMONS was charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Because store video footage was not available during the on-scene investigation, further charges may be pursued once the footage is obtained and reviewed.
