On 09/11/2026 at around 0340 hours, I responded to the intersection of E Broad St and N Hull St in reference to a possible domestic. The caller stated they were an Uber driver and was watching a fight near this location. Officers quickly accessed the Downtown street camera footage and watched as a large group of male throw punches back and forth. After I arrived on scene. three males later identified as LJ Hughes, Connor Massey, and John Chandler were detained and found to be agitators in the fight that took place.
I took control of Hughes and began to search his person before he was transported to the Jail. Inside of Hughes wallet I found a baggy of Cocaine that weighed 1.2 grams including the small plastic baggy. Along with the cocaine, I found an Alabama ID that did not belong to Hughes. Hughes was found to be 20 years old, and his breath contained the heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage. Hughes was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Underage, and Disorderly Conduct.
Hughes can be seen in camera footage wearing khaki pants, boots, and no shirt. Massey can be seen wearing khaki pants and a white button-down shirt. Chandler can be seen in the beginning of the incident wearing khaki pants, a white button down, and a blue sports coat. Chandler does take off the sports coat during the incident but later puts it on a wears it during police interaction.
Camera footage shows all three males arguing with a large group of Indian males and females. The group of three follow the other up and down Broad St as they argue back and forth. The caller later stated that he watched Chandler rip a neckless off one of the other males neck prior to the fight.
Chandler and Massey were both charged with Disorderly Conduct for their involvement in the fight. All three males were transported to the Clarke County Jail without incident.
