On July 10, 2026, I, Deputy Kirby, was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] Lakeside Way in reference to a dispute.

Upon my arrival, I spoke to the victim, who identified himself as [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that his roommate, Brian Strickland, was drunk and that he was throwing things across the room. He stated that Strickland was also threatening to kill him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] escorted me to apartment [700 BLOCK] and pointed me to the room that Strickland was in.

Upon making entry into apartment [700 BLOCK], I observed Strickland standing in the room next to the bed. I observed that there was food all over the floor, walls, and beds, and that there was a grill lying on the floor. I stated to Strickland to come out of the bedroom and into the living room. Strickland stated he was not leaving the bedroom.

I attempted to get Strickland to exit the room several more times and he refused. Strickland then walked to the corner of the room where I could not see him. Sgt. Lamb, Deputy Vives, and myself then made entry into the room and observed Strickland standing in front of the bed. Sgt. Lamb stated to Strickland that he was under arrest and told him to turn around and put his hands behind his back. Strickland refused to obey Sgt. Lamb’s commands. Strickland was given commands to turn around and put his hands behind his back several more times, and he did not comply.

Deputy Vives then deployed his taser and tased Strickland. Strickland fell over onto the bed. I immediately grabbed Strickland by the arm and pulled him off the bed and onto the ground. I then grabbed one of Strickland’s arms and manuevered it behind his back. Sgt. Lamb was able to move Strickland’s other arm behind his back and place him in handcuffs. Strickland was then removed from the apartment and was escorted to a patrol vehicle.

I then spoke with the victims who identified themselves as [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that the incident started at 0200 this morning when Strickland got drunk. He stated that Strickland began to throw food all over the room and on his bed. He stated that Strickland then told him that he was going to kill him.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that while he was sleeping in his bed, Strickland threw a cigarette on him. He stated that he felt his stomach burning, so he woke up and saw that his blanket was on fire. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he threw the blanket off of him and put the fire out. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Strickland also pulled his chest hair and tried to wipe spit on him. Sgt. Lamb observed a red mark on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] chest.

Strickland was then transported to the hospital for medical clearance. Strickland was cleared from the hospital and was then transported to the Coweta County Jail, where he was turned over to jail staff.

Strickland has been charged with OCGA 16-5-21 (Aggravated Assault), OCGA 16-7-60 (Arson 1st Degree), OCGA 16-11-37 (Terroristic Threats), OCGA 16-5-23.1 (Battery), OCGA 16-7-21 Criminal Trespass, and OCGA 16-10-24 (Obstruction of Officers).
