On 6/8/2026 at 0002hrs, I Deputy Sheriff Henderson responded to Old Corinth Rd/Mallard Ln in reference to an accident.
Upon arrival I spoke to [VICTIM #1]. He advised that he was notified that his vehicle had been wrecked by a family member. [VICTIM #1] advised that he was told the vehicle was wrecked near corn crib but when he was unable to locate it, he started riding the area. [VICTIM #1] advised that he then located the vehicle at the above intersection. [VICTIM #1] advised that he has been letting Slaton, Corwin use the vehicle so he was the person driving it. I then told [VICTIM #1] to call Corwin and have him come back to our location due to us not knowing where the accident had occurred.
I then spoke to Corwin via [VICTIM #1]’s phone and he advised that he hit a pole somewhere around the junk yard on Old Corinth. Corwin advised that he was unable to get a ride back to the accident location. Myself and another Deputy began riding the area where Corwin stated he was in the accident but were unable to locate it. Corwin then stopped answering the phone so [VICTIM #1] had to call Corwin’s mother and she advised that Corwin was at her house. Corwin later advised us the exact location that the accident occurred, which was Millard Farmer and Old Corinth Rd.
I then responded to the location and observed that Corwin ran the stop sign on Millard Farmer Rd, Crossed Old Corinth, Left the roadway and struck a Bell Street internet pole. Corwin struck the poll with enough force that he caused the pole to snap. Corwin then left the scene and drove about 1 mile north on Old Corinth Rd where he abandoned the vehicle.
I then had units respond to [2000 BLOCK] Newnan Bypass and make contact with Corwin at his mother’s house. Once I cleared the accident scene, I responded to the Bypass address and also made contact with Corwin.
Upon arrival I asked Corwin what happened. Corwin advised that he was approaching the stop sign and the vehicle’s headlights cut off. Corwin advised that he was trying to stop but the vehicle began sliding and the steering locked up. Corwin advised that he then hit the pole, backed out and began driving away until the vehicle cut off. Corwin advised that he then started walking and an old white man gave him a ride. Corwin advised that he asked to use the man phone but the man told him that he was already giving him and ride and that was enough.
I then asked Corwin if he under stood what “hit and run” was and he advised that he did. I then asked Corwin if he would agree that what he did was a “hit and run” and he advised that it wasn’t his fault because the vehicle messed up. I then asked Corwin if someone hit the pole behind us and left the scene would he consider that a “hit and run” and he agree that it would be. I then advised Corwin that he was under arrest. Corwin was then arrested and transported to the hospital for medical clearance, Once cleared he was transported to the Coweta County Jail.
Corwin didn’t show any attempt to contact 911 and report the accident and was located 6.8 miles away from where the accident occurred.
