On the above listed date and time I was on Highway 16 at Highway 85 and pulled up beside the above listed Toyota Camry that was in the turn lane to turn south on Highway 85. Before I pulled beside it, I observed that the tag light was not operational. I saw a very dimly lit portion of the trunk but the light did not illuminate the tag whatsoever. I conducted a traffic stop.

I approached and began speaking with the occupants. I obtained the license from the driver, Jenny Spradlin, as well as the front seat passenger, [REDACTED]. I then obtained the rear seat passengers information as well, he was identified at Johnny Cordell. While speaking with the rear seat passenger he was nervous and was somewhat jittery in his behavior.

I went back to my patrol car and ran all of them on GCIC. It showed the Mr. Cordell had a warrant out of Meriwether County for criminal trespass. Senoia Pd arrived on scene and I detained Mr. Cordell. I then had the driver, Ms. Spradlin, exit the vehicle. I showed her the tag light and how it was not in the condition that it should be according to the law.

I then asked her if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and responded that there wasn’t. I asked Ms. Spradlin if I could search the vehicle. After not initially answering the question, she then told me that I could search the car. I conducted a search of the vehicle and located a bag of the center console containing feminine products. Inside this bag I located a plastic container. I opened it and inside I located a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine.

I then asked her if it was her bag and she said it was. She then said she forgot that it was in the bag. While placing her in handcuffs she pulled a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine from inside her pants. I placed her under arrest and transported her and Mr. Cordell to the Coweta County Jail. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine and he was held on his warrant.

The vehicle was turned over to passenger [REDACTED] with the permission of Ms. Spradlin. The suspected methamphetamine and glass pipe was turned into evidence. The methamphetamine was submitted to the GBI crime lab for testing. This was recorded using my body camera.
