On May 31, 2026 I DS Anduha was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to an assault.

Upon my arrival I made contact with the victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and her sister [WITNESS #1]. While speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] she informed me that she got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend, Max Griffies. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the argument started over Max talking to other women intimately on his phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] informed me that the two of them have been dating on and off for approximately 9 months and that she is currently pregnant of 6 weeks with Max’s child.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that during the argument, Max stated that he was leaving at which time [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was prompting him to grab his things and leave. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that while Max was packing his belongings, he threw a food wrapper on the ground in the residence at which time [REDACTED BY AGENCY] picked it up and threw it at Max. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Max then grew agitated and charged at her grabbing her by her throat with his hands, wrapping them around her neck.

At this time a physical altercation ensued at which time, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] described that Max pulled her hair backwards along with wrapping his forearm around her neck and squeezing it to the point her airway was blocked and she was unable to take a breath. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Max pinned her to the ground and continued to squeeze at which time she stated she fought to be able to breath at which time she screamed for help.

At this time, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] sister [WITNESS #1], stated that she was at the next-door residence of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where she was house sitting for her mother, who is currently in the hospital. [WITNESS #1] then stated that she was able to hear a loud verbal argument and a scream for help come from [REDACTED BY AGENCY] residence at which time she ran over to the house and forced her way through the door.

[WITNESS #1] stated that she had to force her way in through the front door due to Max pinning [REDACTED BY AGENCY] down in front of the front door, blocking the doorway. [WITNESS #1] stated to me that she opened the door and observed Max laying on top of her. [WITNESS #1] informed me that Max quickly got up and stated “I didn’t do anything” and grabbed his property and left.

While speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] I observed red irritation and red marking on her throat that aligns with the injuries she would sustain if her throat was compressed to the point of not being able to breath. I took photographs of the injuries to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] throat, which will be uploaded to the case file. I also issued [REDACTED BY AGENCY] a case pamphlet and informed her of how to obtain a temporary protection order.

Approximately 5 hours later, I was informed by DS Terrell that he had located Max at the backyard of [20 BLOCK] Roy Dingler Rd. I then read Max his Miranda warning verbatim from the card at which time he advised that he understood his rights along with him agreeing to speak with me. Max stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was causing a ruckus at the house trying to argue at which time he stated he was leaving and began to grab his things.

Max continued by stating that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was trying to hit him with his belt and took his cellphone. Max then stated that he was unable to get his cellphone back from [REDACTED BY AGENCY] due to her sister running in and telling him he needed to leave. Max went on to say that [WITNESS #1] and her mother don’t “fu*k with” [REDACTED BY AGENCY], referring to dealing with her, due to her being “mean”.

I reviewed the call history at the residence where I observed there was prior report with a dispute on 5/21/2026 and an assault from 11/15/2025 resulting in a report. I then transported Max to the Coweta County Jail where I turned custody over to jail staff. Max will be charged with Aggravated Assault (strangulation) along with Battery on an Unborn Child.
