On Friday, May 27, 2022, I was dispatched to [30 BLOCK] Springview Place for the report of a family dispute. 911 advised that a male called 911 advising of an argument with his wife. The wife could be heard screaming in the background.

I arrived on scene and was met at the door by [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. I immediately observed redness and scratches to the right side of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face. I entered the residence and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Moon Smith detailed that they were having a discussion about their grandson’s hair when it became an argument.

Moon advised that her husband of 40 years hurt her feelings. While she was speaking she motioned with her hands and I observed her palms were bright red. I asked why they were so red and she said “from hitting him”. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then pointed to his arm and said she had also bitten him.

I observed a very apparent circular red bite mark on his right elbow. When asked if [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had put his hands on her she said, “No. He just hurt my feelings”. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] confirmed that he did not touch her, but was attacked during the argument.

Moon was placed under arrest for battery family-violence. She was handcuffed behind her back and placed in the rear transport seat of my patrol vehicle. I returned to the residence to have [REDACTED BY AGENCY] complete a written statement and to photograph the injuries.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] statement advised that the two had been arguing all morning about a haircut for their grandson. He advised that she is always putting her hands on him when they argue. He did advise that he did not want her charged, but due to the physical evidence, Moon’s admission that she made deliberate physical contact during a verbal altercation, and that he did not hit her, the two could not remain in the house together.

While en-route to the jail Moon advised that her husband of 40 years said “I’ll take him to get a haircut, if you give me a divorce”. Moon said she was hurt and upset due to the comments.

Both Moon and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that there were previous incidents between the two, but that they had never called 911. She detailed an incident where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] left her arm blue.

I spoke with a friend of Moon’s named [WITNESS #1], as she was on Moon’s phone when I arrived on scene. I informed her that Moon was under arrest and that she was going to the Coweta County Jail. She acknowledged that the two fight very often.

I obtained the written statement and transported Moon to the jail, where she was turned over to jail staff without incident. A victim notification form was completed add attached to the booking paperwork.
