On August 6, 2026 I, DS Ball, responded to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] for a family dispute. Deputies responded to this address earlier today for another family dispute where the caller Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated nothing physical happened and she did not fear for her safety but parties were advised to separate for the day due to Mr. Terry Mitchell being intoxicated at the time.
Now Ms. [WITNESS #1] was calling stating they were arguing again and this time it was physical in nature. I arrived on scene and asked Mr. Mitchell what was going on and he stated nothing. I left him outside with other deputies while I went in to speak to Ms. [WITNESS #1] and Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised she heard her mom and Mr. Mitchell arguing and it sounded physical like he was grabbing her mom. I asked her if she saw it to which she stated she did not see it but heard what sounded like he was grabbing her along with that he grabs her often but her mom refuses to call 911.
I then spoke with Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated it was the same as earlier where Mr. Mitchell being intoxicated got in her face and was screaming at her. I then asked about the physical part where he grabbed her to which she was reluctant to tell me what happened but I could see she was visibly shaken, looked fearful of her safety. She then played me a video from her phone that was audio only where I heard Mr. Mitchell yelling about how she called 911 earlier and cursing. I then heard Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] state for him to let go of her and that was when I asked if that was when he grabbed her. She replied he did not hurt her but did not deny he grabbed her. She advised she did not want him to go to jail but just for him to leave for the day. She also advised he needs help with his alcohol problem.
I then went back outside and asked Mr. Mitchell what happened and he stated nothing just arguing. I then asked him about him grabbing her wrist to which he stated he didn’t but then recanted stating he probably did grab her. He also advised that Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was also in his face and pushed him first. I did not see any marks consistent with him being pushed but he had a general redness to his entire chest area. Due to the video testimonial, witness testimonial and his own admission he was placed under arrest for Simple Assault FVA, Simple Battery FVA and disorderly conduct.
I read him his Miranda Rights to which he stated he understood them and refused to speak to me. I then secured him in the rear of my patrol vehicle and gave Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] a victim notification form with a case pamphlet card with a case number. She and Ms. [WITNESS #1] both refused to fill out witness statements. I also asked the boyfriend Mr. [WITNESS #2] if he heard anything to which he stated not really just them arguing which woke him out of his sleep.
I then began taking Mr. Mitchell to the Coweta County Jail and while on the way there he made several suicidal ideation comments stating he was going to kill himself when he got out of jail. Upon arrival at the jail, he again stated he wanted to kill himself and that he was going to do it when he got out of jail. While waiting to be patted down he became irate with the jail staff who was speaking to me and then he made the comment while waiting for DO Griffin to come pat him down that when the cuffs came off he was going to swing on him. While in the patdown room DO Griffin told him to sit down and he refused. DO Griffin then grabbed him by his legs, took him to the ground and began the patdown process. I advised jail staff of his suicidal comments and they placed him on suicide watch. He was then turned over to jail staff.
