On Friday, November 24, 2023 at 1250 hours, Lieutenant Patrick Trolinger received a phone call from Decatur County Investigator Justin Kelly, regarding sickly cows, at a pasture on Ten Mile Still Rd., around the Bearcat Express Convenient Store.
Inv. Kelly told Lt. Trolinger he received a phone call, 3rd party, whom told him they seen what appeared to be a sickly cow in said location/pasture, foaming at the mouth and seen one on the ground; Buzzards around the location as well. Lt. Trolinger and Deputy Hunter Jones responded to the area to do a welfare check.
Lt. Trolinger and Dep. Jones arrived on scene, around 1313 hours, and observed two cows lying on the ground, black in color, within or around a hundred yards apart. Deputies watched the cows for several minutes, even hitting the patrol vehicle’s air horn and seen very little movement from both. Lt. Trolinger suspected they were sick and reached out to the owner of the facility/cows; Trip Mosely. Lt. Trolinger had phone contact with Mosely at 1320 hours. Lt. Trolinger explained his reason for the phone call; letting him know he had two sick cows lying down and needed attention. Mosely told Lt. Trolinger he would respond and planned on bringing feed to the cows and would check on the two cows; phone conversation ended.
Contact with Mosely was not recorded.
