On March 25, 2023 at approximately 1723 hours, Deputy Michael Starling responded to a 911 dispatch of domestic at [600 BLOCK] Quincy Highway.
Deputy Starling arrived on scene and made contact with [WITNESS #1] in the front yard. [WITNESS #1] stated that Traval Harris had jumped on [VICTIM #1] and stabbed him. Harris had confronted [VICTIM #1] in the car port wanting to fight. When [VICTIM #1] refused to Harris shoved [VICTIM #1] 2 year old daughter down on the concrete. The 2 year old fell on her back hitting her head onto the ground. [VICTIM #1] ran over to Harris and was punched in the face. [WITNESS #1] pulled the two off each other to separate them.
[VICTIM #1] went into the house away from Harris. Harris ran after him and grabbed a knife from the kitchen. [VICTIM #1] backed away from Harris trying to get back outside. Harris tried stabbing [VICTIM #1] as he was exiting the house. [VICTIM #1] ran to his vehicle will being chased by Harris. Before [VICTIM #1] could close the door of his vehicle Harris tried to stab him in the arm but missed. Harris left the scene as soon as he found out law enforcement was called. [WITNESS #1] had watched the incident occur in the house and yard. [WITNESS #1] believed [VICTIM #1] was stabbed due to seeing blood on him.
[WITNESS #2] was in the yard when the incident occurred. She observed the 2 year old get pushed down and Harris punching [VICTIM #1]. As she checked on the child she heard yelling inside her house. She believed [VICTIM #1] was going to leave the house so she was loading both of [VICTIM #1] children into his vehicle.
She observed [VICTIM #1] run out of the house while being chased by Harris. She had already stepped away from the vehicle when [VICTIM #1] jumped in. She observed Harris trying to hit [VICTIM #1] in the vehicle. She did not know Harris had a knife in his hand until he came walking back to the residents. [WITNESS #2] was calling 911 in reference to them fighting. [WITNESS #2] is the mother to Traval Harris.
[VICTIM #1] returned to the scene after being called back by [WITNESS #2]. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was not stabbed and only had a cut over his left eye. His eye was cut when Harris punched him. While sitting outside on the car port Harris was getting angry over a incident with his girlfriend. Harris began to argue with everyone at the house. Harris confronted [VICTIM #1] and was told to leave him alone. [VICTIM #1] told Harris to watch were he was going due to children running around on the car port.
Harris then turned around and shoved [VICTIM #1] daughter down. [VICTIM #1] ran over to Harris to confront him. Harris turned around and punched him in the face. The two began to fight each other. [WITNESS #1] pulled the two off each other. [VICTIM #1] went into the house to check his face while Harris followed after. Harris grabbed a knife from the kitchen and threaten to stab [VICTIM #1] with it.
[VICTIM #1] put his hands up and stated he was leaving. While trying to leave Harris came at [VICTIM #1] trying to stab him. Harris missed him with the knife and [VICTIM #1] ran out the door to his vehicle. Harris chased after him and tried to stab him on the arm while he was closing the door. Harris missed again and [VICTIM #1] was able to close the door. [VICTIM #1] 2 year old and 4 year old were in the vehicle when the incident occurred.
Deputy Starling was out at [600 BLOCK] Quincy Highway minutes before the incident occurred. Traval Harris girlfriend had called for law enforcement due to Harris refusing to let her have her car keys. Harris at the time was uncooperative and intoxicated. Harris girlfriend was able to get her property and leave. Before Deputy Starling could leave the scene Harris was trying to argue with other males on scene.
[WITNESS #2] had told Harris to cut it out and to sit down. [WITNESS #2] stated they would be alright. [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] were at the residents at the time. They were telling Harris to calm down and they would be eating soon. Deputy Starling also observed both [VICTIM #1] children playing in the yard at the time.
The knife used in the incident was discovered behind a picture in the living room. [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] confirmed that it was the knife Harris used. CID was informed of the incident and scene was turned over to Investigator Garrett Wooten.
