On 05/25/2026 I Ptl. Conley and Ptl. Green responded in emergency mode to [1900 BLOCK] W Gordon Ave in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival I observed multiple people standing in the breeze way and a male subject who was later identified as [VICTIM #1] lying on his stomach. I asked everyone on scene where the suspect was located but could not get a solid answer. I then attempted to ask [VICTIM #1] who shot him but he did not state who. I asked [VICTIM #1] where he was shot and he advised he did not know and that he could not move.
Once more unit’s arrival we were able to determine that the shooter was located in apartment [REDACTED] due to witness advising that Galbert lived in apartment [REDACTED]. At that point Ptl. Green and I attempted to make contact with the suspect in apartment [REDACTED] by knocking on the door but was met with negative contact.
I was advised by witness that the subject who was later identified as Al-Wahhaab Galbert was still inside of the apartment and at the time Ptl. Green and I secured the exits. Once [VICTIM #1] was removed from the scene by Med 4 Ptl. Rathel took my position securing apartment [REDACTED] so that I could gather information for the case. I made contact with Lt. Batson and he advised me that according to witnesses [VICTIM #1] and Galbert was arguing and eventually began fighting which led to Galbert shooting [VICTIM #1] in the hip.
I made contact with a juvenile by the name of [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was interviewed while his mother [REDACTED] was present. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he heard [VICTIM #1] and Galbert arguing outside. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he observe Galbert use a “peanut butter glock23” to shoot [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Galbert then walked back upstairs into his apartment.
I did not observe any shell casings in the breeze way. I remained on scene while hostage negations responded as well as swat. After sometime Galbert surrendered and was taken into custody by swat. Galbert was then taken to my patrol car where he was searched incident to arrest. I found 14 9mm bullets inside of Galbert’s right pocket as well as the bottom piece of a magazine that was black in color. I was not able to identify the firearm it was attached to. The bullets, Magazine pice and cd with photos were submitted into evidence and placed in locker number 2.
While searched Galbert I observed injuries to Galbert’s head as well as a piece of his left ring finger was missing. I also observed bruises to Galbert’s neck area. Galbert had multiple lacerations on his head, I wasn’t able to see all of the laceration due to Galbert’s hair. Galbert was transported to Phoebe due to his injuries.
Sgt. L. Jackson, Lt. G. Batson, Investigations, Swat, and Hostage negotiations responded to the scene.
