On July 13, 2026, I, Ptl. Greene, responded in normal patrol mode to a reported child molestation at [REDACTED].

Upon arrival, I made contact with thirteen-year-old [VICTIM #1] and her mother identified as, [WITNESS #1]. I asked Ms. [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] if they would step outside so I could speak with [VICTIM #1] privately. They both complied. After stepping outside, [VICTIM #1] stated that during the Georgia Milestones testing week at school, which she advised was approximately in mid-May, she would wake up at approximately 0300 hours but would pretend to remain asleep.

[VICTIM #1] further stated that during that time her brother identified Darien Mascella reached over her put his hands under her shirt and played with her breast. [VICTIM #1] then stated that the next time he sucked on her breast and got her right hand and placed it on his pe*is making her jack him off until he ejaculated while everyone was asleep. [VICTIM #1] then advised after Darien ejaculated he would rub it off on his blanket. I Ptl. Greene asked [VICTIM #1] how long did the acts last she advised the whole week of testing.

[VICTIM #1]’s mother, [WITNESS #1], advised that she was unaware of the incidents prior to my arrival. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had not been comfortable telling her mother what had occurred. Ptl. Loud responded to the scene and detained Darien Masella, placing him in the rear seat of her patrol vehicle.

I, Ptl. Greene, remained upstairs with [WITNESS #1] and asked how many children were residing in the hotel room. [WITNESS #1] advised there were six children living in the room: [VICTIM #1] (13 years of age), [JUVENILE #1] (11 years of age), [JUVENILE #2] (10 years of age), [JUVENILE #3] (9 years of age), [JUVENILE #4] (8 years of age), and her oldest son, Darien Masella (18 years of age). [WITNESS #1] then asked all of her children if anyone had ever touched them in an inappropriate manner. All of the children replied “no,” except for [VICTIM #1].

Sgt. Tuten and Sgt. Franklin were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Sgt. Franklin notified the Criminal Investigations Division. Lt. Richardson also responded to the scene. While waiting for Investigator Beal to arrive, [WITNESS #1] became visibly upset and stated that she had been living in Albany since March 18, 2026, after relocating from Warner Robins in an effort to improve her family’s living situation. [WITNESS #1] advised that she has nine children in total, but her oldest children currently reside with their father. She stated that Darien had previously been living with his father but had recently been sent back to live with her.

[WITNESS #1] further stated that there had been numerous problems while the children were living with their father and that one of her oldest daughters had been admitted to a mental health facility. I, Ptl. Greene, asked [WITNESS #1] if she was aware of Darien having any mental health issues. [WITNESS #1] stated that she was not aware of any diagnosed mental health conditions but would not be surprised if he did because of the environment in which he had lived while in his father’s custody.

[WITNESS #1] also stated that there had been a previous incident involving Darien several years earlier while he was living with his father. According to [WITNESS #1], she had been told that Darien caused a female family member of his father’s wife to perform oral sex on him. [WITNESS #1] stated that she never believed Darien would sexually assault one of his sisters.

Investigator Beal subsequently arrived on scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Darien Masella was transferred to the rear seat of my patrol vehicle and transported to the Albany Police Department for further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division. A GCIC/NCIC check was conducted on all involved parties, which yielded negative results. This incident occured inside of the city limits.

This case will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
