I, Ptl. N. Pickett, responded in normal patrol mode to [500 BLOCK] Swift St APT – [REDACTED] (in the City of Albany, GA limits) in reference to a structure fire.

Upon arrival, contact was made with black female, [VICTIM #1], in the front of building [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated she believes her ex-boyfriend (black male, Dendray Bryant) set a fire inside her residence. [VICTIM #1] stated Bryant has been breaking inside her residence all day through the rear door. She also stated she spoke to an officer earlier in reference to this incident. (Ptl. Holt).

[VICTIM #1] stated she has had to contact the police several time in reference to family violence complaints with Bryant. [VICTIM #1] stated when she left the residence to pick up her baby’s birthday cake, she believes that is when Bryant entered the residence again and set the fire. [VICTIM #1] stated she does not know what time she left the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated no one was inside the residence during the time.

Contact was also made with witness, black female, [WITNESS #1], in front of building [REDACTED]. [WITNESS #1] stated while she was walking to her sister’s residence, she noticed smoke coming from her other sister’s [VICTIM #1] residence. [WITNESS #1] stated as she ran towards [VICTIM #1]’s residence she saw [VICTIM #1]’s ex-boyfriend, Dendray Bryant, running away from the apartment headed west towards the railroad tracks. [WITNESS #1] stated she immediately called 911 at 1944 hours. A witness voluntary witness statement was written by [WITNESS #1].

[VICTIM #1] stated Bryant lives with his grandmother at a residence on E. Tift Ave. A computer checked revealed that Bryant had a previous address of [1000 BLOCK] E. Tift Ave. Contact was made with Bryant’s grandmother, [REDACTED], in the front yard of the residence. [REDACTED] stated Bryant was not at the residence at the moment. I informed [REDACTED] that I needed to speak with Bryant in reference to an incident on Swift and provided her with a case card that only had my name on it.

Contact was also made with the Property Manager, [REDACTED], via phone call. [REDACTED] was informed on this incident and she stated the maintenance worker will come out and secure the residence. I observed Building [REDACTED] apartment [REDACTED] completely burned and full of burnt residue, all remains were unrecognizable.

Albany Fire Department Personnel’s: Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 5, Engine 7, Battalion 1, Safety Officer 1, and Arson Investigator, LT. M. Burns.

LT. Burns arrived on scene at 2048 hours and confirmed the arson. Burns stated there were three separate fires inside the residence, one downstairs (pile of clothes and trash), two upstairs (bed and the waste basket). Lt. D. Jones and Sgt. T. Allen also responded on scene.

I submitted [VICTIM #1]’s, Bryant’s, and [WITNESS #1]’s information through GCIC/NCIC for any active warrants but yielded negative results. Bryant does have an active criminal trespass warning for [500 BLOCK] Swift St. He is not allowed back on the premises per Property Manager, [REDACTED]. The CTW was issued on 04/04/2025.
