On 03/18/2026 I (Ptl. Sibley) responded in emergency mode to [1400 BLOCK] 6th Ave in reference to a Shooting.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim [VICTIM #1] who I observed with a small open wound to his chin. [VICTIM #1] wasn’t incapacitated at this time, nor did [VICTIM #1]’s injury appear to be severe. EMS (Med 1) checked [VICTIM #1] for injuries and his vitals while I spoke with him, to ensure he didn’t have any internal injuries. While speaking with [VICTIM #1] he advised he didn’t know who shot at him, due to him not having any active conflict with anyone. [VICTIM #1] stated he was walking, minding his own business when 2 male’s wearing ski mask arrived at the intersection of Coolidge St and 6th Ave in a maroon Ford Fusion. [VICTIM #1] stated he didn’t recognize the vehicle, nor was he able to get a tag number.
[VICTIM #1] stated he was walking to his sister’s residence traveling north bound on Coolidge when he saw the males traveling west bound from Slappey Blvd at the above intersection and began firing rounds. [VICTIM #1] stated he felt something strike his chin, immediately after the gun shots ending. I asked [VICTIM #1] who fired the gun to which he stated the driver of the maroon vehicle held his arm out the window firing a black handgun. [VICTIM #1] stated he then ducked behind [1400 BLOCK] 6th Ave. I asked [VICTIM #1] if he knew any further information which could help us (police) identify the suspects, to which he stated no.
[VICTIM #1] was then cleared by Med 1 with no further concerning injuries. I then made contact with the original caller [WITNESS #1] who resides at [1400 BLOCK] 6th Ave who stated he observed [VICTIM #1] walking north on Coolidge St passing his residence. [WITNESS #1] stated he heard 2 gunshots and immediately after he observed [VICTIM #1]’s head turn and [VICTIM #1] fall to the ground. [WITNESS #1] stated he then went over to [VICTIM #1] and walk him over to cover which was located behind his residence. [WITNESS #1] stated he didn’t have any camera footage due to his camera’s being down.
While on scene I photographed [VICTIM #1]’s injury to which the photos were submitted into property and evidence locker 02 at the LEC (201 W Oglethorpe Blvd). While on scene Ptl. Slankard located and collected the shells casings in front of [1400 BLOCK] 6th Ave. At this time the vehicle description is a maroon Ford Fusion last seen traveling west bound on 6th Ave.
Lt. Gadt responded to the scene.
An NCIC/GCIC check was conducted on all parties involved which yielded negative results for being wanted.
This case is forwarded to investigations.
