I, Ptl. LaGree and Ptl. Rathel, responded in emergency mode (lights and sirens) to 1112 N. Madison St. in reference to an Armed Robbery.

Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1], who stated he had been robbed at gunpoint while operating a Macon County Transit Van displaying Georgia tag [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated he had dropped off patients at 1112 N. Madison St. and was leaving the area when he made a right turn from 5th Ave. onto N. Madison St. and began traveling northbound. [VICTIM #1] advised that after realizing he was traveling the wrong way on the roadway, he attempted to make a U-turn. [VICTIM #1] stated that while attempting to turn around, he observed a gray sedan pull up nearby and a black male exit the vehicle and approach him.

[VICTIM #1] described the male as wearing an orange or red shirt, having no facial hair, and a low haircut. [VICTIM #1] stated the male initially approached the passenger side of the transit van and attempted to gain entry but was unsuccessful. [VICTIM #1] advised the male then walked to the driver’s side window, pointed a firearm at him, and stated, “Give me all your money. My girl is pregnant.”

[VICTIM #1] stated he handed the male his wallet. The male searched through the wallet and returned it after observing it contained no money. [VICTIM #1] advised the male repeatedly asked, “Where the money at?” [VICTIM #1] stated he then handed the male a white bag containing approximately two dollars and some loose change. [VICTIM #1] advised he believed he heard a female inside the suspect vehicle tell the male not to do it. [VICTIM #1] further advised that the transit van was equipped with video recording equipment.

I made contact with [REDACTED], [VICTIM #1]’s supervisor, regarding the video footage. [REDACTED] advised she would provide the footage and subsequently emailed two video files related to the incident.

While reviewing the first video, which did not contain audio, I observed [VICTIM #1] seated in the driver’s seat operating the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] suddenly appeared startled. A few moments later, I observed a black male wearing a white shirt, light blue pants, and a blue surgicalmask with a medium-length haircut approach the driver’s side of the vehicle and point what appeared to be a black handgun at [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] then opened the driver’s side door and handed the male his wallet. The male searched through the wallet before returning it to [VICTIM #1]. The male appeared to be yelling at [VICTIM #1], who then reached underneath his seat and handed the male a white bag. The male walked away, and [VICTIM #1] drove from the scene.

While reviewing the second video, I observed the front-facing camera view as [VICTIM #1] made a right turn onto N. Madison St. and began traveling northbound. After realizing he was traveling the wrong direction, [VICTIM #1] attempted to turn the vehicle around. During this time, I observed a dark gray sedan, possibly a newer model Toyota, pull to the side of the roadway. The driver’s side door opened, and [VICTIM #1] continued attempting to turn around, causing the vehicle to move out of camera view.

A few seconds later, I heard [VICTIM #1] repeatedly state that he was not from the area. Shortly thereafter, I observed a black male wearing a white shirt and light blue pants climb across the front of the transit van from the passenger side toward the driver’s side. The male then moved out of camera view. Moments later, I heard [VICTIM #1] clearly state, “Don’t shoot me.” I then heard the male demand money and state, “Give me some money. My girl pregnant.” The male also stated, “Fu*k wrong with you, give me some money.” I then heard the sound of a bag being handled. The male subsequently walked from the driver’s side of the vehicle back toward the passenger side. [VICTIM #1] then left the scene and returned to 1112 N. Madison St.

While on scene, RTIC advised that a possible suspect vehicle was a gray Toyota Camry displaying Georgia tag [REDACTED]. I conducted a Flock camera search on the vehicle provided by RTIC; however, the vehicle did not match the vehicle observed in the video footage.

Sgt. Jackson and Lt. Batson responed to the scene and this case will be forwarded to investigations. The video footage was collected and will be logged into evidence and secured in Property Management Locker 02.
