I, Ptl. Q. McClain, responded in normal patrol mode to [1800 BLOCK] Gadsden Dr. in reference to Burglary of a Residence in Progress.

Upon my arrival, I made contact with a black female (later identified as [VICTIM #1]) stating that her children’s father, Joshua Jones, broke her window and came inside of her residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had advised Jones not to come back to her residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that Jones does not live at the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that Jones showed up at her residence and attempted to come in through the front door and then the side door to get his PlayStation 5 (PS5).

[VICTIM #1] stated that Jones then began to knock on the kitchen window. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was standing by the stove and her son ([REDACTED BY AGENCY]-6 years old) was standing by the kitchen sink. [VICTIM #1] stated that Jones then punched the window until it shattered. [VICTIM #1] stated that she told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to move out the way, in fear that the glass may hit him.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Jones then jumped through the window, into the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that she then ran out the front door, in fear that Jones may harm her due to prior incidents between the two of them. [VICTIM #1] stated that once she got outside she called 911. [VICTIM #1] stated that Jones then ran out of her residence with his PS5 and television (TV). [VICTIM #1] stated that the PS5 and TV were in her living room, on the table in the corner. [VICTIM #1] stated that her two other children ([REDACTED BY AGENCY] – 1 years old and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] – 6 months old), that she shares with Jones, were in the living room at the time.

I observed the window in the kitchen, above the sink, to be shattered with blood on some of the glass and sink. I observed a trail of blood going from the kitchen, to the living room near where the table was, and out the front door. I observed a chair sitting under the kitchen window on the outside of the residence, with blood and glass on it and the ground. Pictures of the damages were taken and will be logged into evidence locker # 2 at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC).

I made contact with Dispatch to advise them to notify Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (PPMH) to inform us if a male arrived with lacerations to the arms and possibly stomach area. Dispatch advised that PPMH informed that a male arrived with the lacerations. [VICTIM #1] was provided with a case card and informed of the list of resources when scanning the QR code.

Upon my arrival to PPMH, I made contact with Jones stating that he went to [VICTIM #1]’s residence because he had been living there for approximately 1 to 2 months prior to him going to Atlanta, Ga for the weekend. Jones stated that he did not know that [VICTIM #1] did not want him to come back. Jones stated that he asked [VICTIM #1] to just give him his PS5. Jones stated that [VICTIM #1] told him that she did not have it and it had been sold.

Jones stated that he stood in a chair outside the kitchen window and began punching the window. Jones stated that [VICTIM #1] then began yelling that she did have his PS5. Jones stated that he then punched through the window and jumped through it. Jones stated that he then grabbed his PS5 and TV and ran out the front door. Jones stated that he then got into his car, left the residence, and drove to PPMH.

Once Jones was cleared by PPMH medical staff, I escorted him to the rear of my patrol vehicle (18-191). Jones was searched for contraband and the search was met with negative results. I then placed Jones in the rear of my patrol vehicle and transported him to the Dougherty County Jail Facility (DCJF). Upon our arrival, I escorted Jones into DCJF where he was seen by the jail’s medical staff. Jones was then released to the jail’s intake staff without further incident.

A GCIC/NCIC search was conducted on [VICTIM #1] and Jones and was met with negative results of being wanted. This incident did occur within the city limits of Albany, Ga. This case is domestic in nature due to [VICTIM #1] and Jones being parents of the same children. A warrant will be issued for Joshua Jones for the offense of Criminal Trespass – Family Violence (26-007661-01 APD). CARES forms will be submitted for the juveniles named in this incident.

This case is cleared by arrest.
