On this day I Ptl. N. Arnold responded in normal patrol mode to 1030 W Gordon Ave (Family Dollar) in reference to Disorderly Conduct.
Upon arrival I met with store manager [WITNESS #1] who stated that a B/F had entered the store putting items in her white bag attempting to steal. [WITNESS #1] stated that when she was caught she got angry and began to throw the items in her bag on the floor. [WITNESS #1] stated that the B/F threw a jar of Lays chip dip on the floor heading out. The B/F was seen on foot heading West towards S Slappey Blvd behind E-Z Corner store located at 521 S Slappey Blvd. Ptl. Bailey detained the suspect in double locked handcuffs to the rear and placed in the back of my patrol car.
I returned back to the location of the incident to get pictures and video footage of what happened. Upon observing the store I notice a broken jar of Lays chip dip at the entrance of the store and items thrown around a aisle down from the entrance. [WITNESS #1] was able to show me footage of the incident that took place. I observed the suspect, who was identified as Keyanna Smith enter the store at approximately 02:05PM and start grabbing items and placing them in her bag. I also could observe Smith throwing the items from her bag onto the floor. Smith was seen throwing a jar of chip dip leaving out the store.
[WITNESS #1] verbally advised Smith that she is trespassed from the store, Smith understood. A NCIC check was conducted on Smith for any wants/warrants, was met with negative results. [WITNESS #1] stated that Smith was previously trespassed from this location but due to her giving false name I was met with negative results of finding that Trespass.
Sgt. Hart was notified and responded to the scene. Smith was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to Dougherty County Jail (1302 Evelyn Ave). Once I arrived I placed my duty weapon in the trunk of my patrol car and escorted Smith inside. Smith was accepted into booking. I returned to my patrol car and secured my duty weapon in my holster. I checked the back seat of my patrol vehicle for any contraband, was met with negative results.
Smith received a Misdemeanor Citation for Disorderly Conduct (AA005452).
This case is cleared by arrest.
