I, Cpl. Bailey responded in normal mode to the 1300 block of E Broad Ave. in reference to a Hit and Run Auto Accident.
Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1], who stated she was involved in a hit and run accident. [VICTIM #1] stated the vehicle that fled the scene was an older model silver Toyota and possibly a corolla. [VICTIM #1] stated she observed after the accident that the vehicle made a u-turn going westbound on E Broad Ave. [VICTIM #1] stated she was able to capture a partial tag number of [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated she knew it started with an [REDACTED] but wasnt sure about anything else on the vehicle.
A Flock search was conducted on silver Toyota with a partial tag of [REDACTED], which revealed positive results for tag [REDACTED]. The tag came back to a 2009 Toyota Yaris and came back to a registered owner of Laquandria Jones. I conducted a GCIC/NCIC check on the vehicle which revealed the vehicle wasnt stolen and had valid registration and insurance status.
I responded to Laquandrias address and began looking for her vehicle. I observed the vehicle at [500 BLOCK] Don Cutler Sr. Dr. apt [REDACTED]. I knocked on the door and made contact with Laquandria. Laquandria immediately stated I’m going to jail and asked to put clothes on due to her not being properly dressed at the time of contact. Laquandria was asked if she was the owner and driver of the vehicle, to which she stated yes. Laquandria explained the accident and stated her vehicle has brakes issues. Laquandria stated she has been needing to make contact with the mechanic shop to repair her brakes but she didnt and drove her vehicle when the accident happened. Laquandria stated she was unable to stop when her vehicle collided with the other vehicle. Laquandrias daughter provided additional clothing for Laquandria.
I placed Laquandria into double locked handcuffs. Ptl. Herring was on scene and searched Laquandria for contraband with negative results for contraband. I placed Laquandria into the rear seat of my patrol car (18-209). I transported Laquandria to the Dougherty County Jail. Upon arrival, I secured my service weapon in the trunk of my patrol car. I walked Laquandria into the jail, where she was seen by the jails nurse staff. Laquandria was later released to the jail intake staff without further incident. My rear seat of my patrol vehicle was checked after transport for contraband and was met with negative results.
This incident took place within the city limits of Albany, GA.
This case is cleared by arrest.
