I Ptl. Bailey responded in normal mode to 600 block of W Residence Ave in reference to a Hit and Run Auto Accident.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the driver [VICTIM #1] of a vehicle (2017 Nissan Rogue with GA tag #[REDACTED]). [VICTIM #1] provided the details for the accident. [VICTIM #1] stated he was talking to his brother (unknown name) when he observed a vehicle (later determined to be a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with GA tag #[REDACTED]) backing out of the driveway of [600 BLOCK] W Residence Ave. [VICTIM #1] stated after the Chevrolet struck the Nissan, he made contact with a male driver of the Chevrolet. [VICTIM #1] stated the driver stated “I don’t have any insurance” and fled the scene. [VICTIM #1] stated he told [VICTIM #2] to grab the tag for the vehicle, to which she provided the tag number.
[VICTIM #1] stated he was told that the driver recently got out of jail, but didn’t know the male’s name. I went to [600 BLOCK] W Residence Ave., where I observed multiple people outside of the residence. The vehicle wasn’t on scene but they stated the vehicle came from this location. I asked everyone one scene if they knew the driver, to which they all either didn’t answer or stated they weren’t on scene when the accident took place.
I made contact with the owner [REDACTED] of the Chevrolet Tahoe by phone. [REDACTED] was asked who was driving her vehicle, to which she stated her son, Lorenzo Davis. [REDACTED] stated she will contact Lorenzo and contact me (Ptl. Bailey) back. I waited and attempted contact back with [REDACTED] by phone again but was met with negative results. I attempted contact with Lorenzo by phone but was met with negative results.
I will conduct a follow-up with [REDACTED] in person at her address at a later date, due to negative contact at her address on file at the time. If no contact is made with [REDACTED] or Lorenzo, I will make contact with our Public Information Officer to place Lorenzo as a person of interest in this hit and run. The Chevrolet’s tag was added to the Flock system in an attempt to make contact with the vehicle and Lorenzo.
The following charges will be filled Improper Backing and Hit and Run. If Lorenzo is the driver, I will also charge him with Driving on a Suspended License, due to his GCIC/NCIC check showing multiple suspensions for Failure to Appear.
