On November 5, 2024 at 1415 hours, I responded to an incident which was in progress in room 110 involving two students. I heard teacher [WITNESS #1] screaming at a student(s) and then observed a male student (D.L.) leaving the room into the hall. There had been a physical altercation between student #1 (D.L.) and student #2 [REDACTED BY AGENCY]

Administrators arrived on scene at the same time as I arrived. Teacher [WITNESS #1] stated student #1 attacked student #2 from behind, striking him 10-12 times about the head area. Witness statements were gathered by administrator [WITNESS #2]. Due to conflicting witness statements and in order to grasp a more accurate depiction of what actually happened, I requested the class room camera video. Video revealed student #2 crumbled up a chip bag and threw it at student #1, striking him in the head. Seconds later, student #1 got up out of his desk, approached student #2 from behind and began striking student #2 on the head multiple times. Teacher [WITNESS #1] attempted to seperate the boys and called for an administrator.

School officials issued both students due process and issued punishment according to their protocol. Upon further investigation student #1 was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and disruption of public schools. Warrants will be issued for his arrest. Student #2 will be charged with simple battery and disruption of public schools. A juvenile complaint will be completed and forwarded to the department of juvenile justice.
